You may have noticed that some modules have a limit on the number that can be installed on your ship. While this is true, some modules come in certain subtypes, so you may be able to install more than you originally thought.
Energy modules come in 2 main subtypes: Reactors and Relays. Reactors add to your max energy, while Relays add to your energy charge rate. Cloaking modules come in 2 subtypes: Cloaks and Jammers. You can have up to 2 of each, for a total of 4. Defensive modules come in 2 subtypes: Thrusters and Dampeners. You can have up to 4 of each, for a total of 8.

Did not realize that, thanks for the info. Just to double-check, sensors and scanners are not two sub-types?

nope - all scanners/sensors are considered the same as far as ship limits are concerned

Thanks. Currently, there is no way of telling what is the ship limit for module type unless you have at least one installed. Same goes for upkeep. Maybe we should change the available modules popup (in the "install new ..." list) from showing an enlarged pic of the module to list of details, like:
- module subtype - ship limit - upkeep
