Try to get more Artifact points when you can. Research is good to focus on at the start, but you definitely want more artifact points than you're getting now.

its all subjective based on your style of play man
you trying to be a pvp or npc hunter
or just a tech researcher or a hacker
or do ya wanna get rich selling new and gently used pleasure bots
its all up to you man

Honestly im a hacker / pvp right now, working on doms and quads asap

I doesn't really matter what you do, do what you think is best and don't listen to commonwealth (ok that's gonna get my ass kicked and $%&%)
Also, you really need artifact, and you should research planet structures and energy, get to Nano Assembly, for energy you can stop at quantum capacitors or wave conduits and then focus on scanning or defense to where you want it to be and then shields.

then id say throw all research into cloaking tech and scan and armor for when they come back atcha for hackin em
but above all energy is the key

In my humble opinion. Hard to tell how he is doing. Still very young. i would do energy or Scanners if i were you. Skip Cloaking. It's only at higher ranks i am able to determine how well somebodies doing.

Focus on energy, scanning, and buildings. Maximize research over everything else for now. If you need money, sell planets you aren't strong enough to take or artifacts you don't need. Get into a legion where they can give you scan buff artifacts to help find more planets.

if he wants to hack he has to defeat the targets scanners ,,,, CLOAK
but yes a high scan helps too
