I wonder, if you successfully scanned a planet with scan lower than the cloak, will the scanner 'get the duplicate' of the planet?
I mean, it's an incentive to report a bug, rather than ignoring it....

I have scanned a planet with cloak 10k+ with 7k scan, but I'm unable to take it because of defense. Because of this, I might choose to ignore the fact I scanned it with less scan than cloak and keep silent. If there is a guarantee I will get the duplicate of the planet (enemy owned, dummy player, if possible), I might be encouraged to report it
(ah yes, I always report things like this, but it's an incentive for those who choose to stay silent )

Don't bother, if you invade and are stupid enough (as I was) to let the other player know in the belief that they will get a replacement, all that will happen is your planet will disappear from your database without explanation.

No idea if invade costs or artifacts lost are replaced, but planet definitely gets given back not duplicated.

I would be interested to know if anyone has received duplicate planets as I am aware of instances of Dysons being duplicated in the past.

Certainly an incentive to keep quiet and a punishment if you do try to help.

IMO people should just be honest about it, realize you've scanned something you shouldn't and take the high road and tell that person you scanned their planet.

Having been informed by Sharnhorst on one occasion, for which i was grateful, i know that if i scan something i shouldn't have been able to, i'm not going to invade the planet.

Agreed. I found one of EoTS and immediately told them.
My kindness was repaid by having 2 of my planets stolen by them within 2 weeks, but hey, that's the game!

Here's a recent one:

I scan planets with more cloak than my scan on a quasi-regular basis. I usually at 13K+ scan, and quite a few planets don't have that much cloak, but it does happen. Should I be posting screenshots? Isn;t it common knowledge that cloak doesn't always work?

It SHOULD work, after Dan said that the cloak issue is fixed in a few previous patches. The recent scan of Annabell actually prove that cloak is still broken somehow.
