Quote: In order to remove confusion over research point spending, the 'Points Remaining' number has been replaced with a progress bar when selecting a research option. The tutorial text also includes a slight adjustment to underscore that points can be spent at any time. I'm really not a fan of this update. The system has chanced from the easy look at the number, divide it by your hourly and you know where you are. A quick glance at numbers tells you how much you have left. Now, you have to do the math to even see the number. There is not even one of Dan's famous and favorite hover-overs (not mine, I like my data visible, not having the do extra work to find it). Thumbs down to this 'upgrade' (thumbs up to the shield update!) |

While I have to agree that I like to know where I am in terms of numbers, the progress bar is an update I think the game definitely needed. It should make the incremental nature of research just a bit more obvious to new players and it's a nice visual touch. And in fact I actually made and posted a mockup of what the bar might look like in another thread, and the end result is remarkably similar. ![]() But anyways, if you could add a mouseover with the amount of research needed and/or how long it will take to get there at the current research rate Dan, you'll have perfected the research screen from my point of view. ![]() |

There are some places where it makes more sense (like here) to not use one. It is not like that is too busy. There is room for both. See below: ![]() |
