Its actually harder to use.
The only way to move the slider now is pressing the arrows repeatedly at either end.
any browser using a touch screen interface is probably going to notice this..

You used to be able to move the slider by pressing the slider bar not just the end areas. What used to take 7 or 8 clicks now takes about 40. Each click takes 2-3 seconds.
Every time you do something the list then resets.
I'm sure the new slider works well with a mouse but it certainly isn't an improvement for cell phones using touch screens.
