While I do like that my research is not being completely wasted under the new "research for credits" trade, the conversion rate is pretty disappointing and I would much rather have new/better tech.

Any idea when that will happen?

It probably wont be for a couple weeks - some new tiers were already added pretty recently.

Yes please don't bring it out too fast. Let some of the lower ranks catch up.

Dan why not bring out an entirely new research tree!
That way even the new players will see it on the research page.
Rather than making the new research tree inexpensive in research point make it much more expensive (maybe note for newbies that ideally you would be at X,XXX research points/hour before doing this tree).

Their have been plenty of good research tree ideas mentioned in the forum threads.

That reminds be of "Tower Defense" games where the really cool special tower is loads more expensive then the others but is still available at the beginning.

I can see why it takes a while though; I never could've come up with all the ideas they've already had for tech. I mean, some were standard, like lasers and plasma cannons, but wouldn't've come up with a lot of the later things, it's pretty tricky.

hows about rather than research points to credits have a new galaxy wheel, say 200k points a spin with some unique eqipment gains or artifacts

There have been plenty of suggestions for new tech. I believe they just aren't releasing anything new to make it easy on the little guys which is why I have stopped playing as much. The game has gotten stale and there really is little point in it once you reach a certain level.

Dan pay attention to what Kaos said. I don't know if he spent money but you don't want the $ players to reduce their level of play.

Their are many ways mentioned in the forums on helping out the newbies (I've mentioned a few) that wouldn't hinder us higher ranked players.

new tech tree ideas based off what ive read in the forum

Soldiers- Invasion attack only and contains Infantry, Mutants/Zombies, Armor, Amphibious (hovercrafts), and Air Support

Escorts- Ships that escort your ship around providing a bonus to attack and defense

Seperate Weapon Classes-
*Laser Cannons- Focused Light that causes incendiary effects on ships, equal damage on hull/shields (strength 100/100)
*Mass Drivers- Modernized conventional warfare using heavy electro magnets to launch insreasing amounts of metallic objects causeing severe damage to hull. damage to shields reduced by 1/2 (strength 150/50)
*Plasma Bolts- Superheated bolts of plasma energy destabilizing the energy in shields. damage to hull reduced by 1/2 (strength 50/150)
*Chemical/Biological/Radioactive Warfare- Torpedos launched into a ship or planet causing deadly effects to the local population. double damage to planetary invasion. (strength 75/75)

Crew Quarters- Medical Bays (reduces crew deaths) , Military Barracks (for housing infantry or mutants/zombies), Landing Bay (houses armor, amphibious, and air support), Command Center (provides an attack/defense bonus), Tactical Reconnoisance Helm (increases cloak/scan)

Research tree would provide an upgrade to the bonus that the crew quarters give

Shield Relays (increases shield charge rate)

Unique tech- a one time researchable module that ould require complex tech parts to build instead of minerals
*Universal Translator/Quantum Imaging Transmitter- allows players to communicate with eachother free of energy
*Organic Displacement Generator- gives a bonus to raiding
*Quantum Algorithmic Generator- gives a bonus to hacking/critical hits
*not sure what else

Biological Interfacing- The process of adding biological modules that interface directly with the current mechanisms of your ship

Aerodynamic Optimization Modification- A new defensive technology that allows ships to become more aerodynamic and maneuverable. Advanced in each tier provide a new ship model image.

thats all i have so far. but its something to think about.

EDIT: Automated Repair Drones- acts like relays for the ship repair time

Not Sure of the Name- Acts like relays for a ships upkeep and repair cost

Ok i am NOT a HUGE big player, that has a ton of rank and research...im just breaching the 1k mark and i PERSONALLY would like a new tree that takes a ton of research because, personally i like to spend my research and see the new tech....which is if it is too cheap there is no real reward in actually having it....to make it more sense its like this.........ok so when i got to rank about 80 i had graviton shearers.....i was so proud, until i found out about every one had it.......pesonally i LIKE it when its an ACHIEVEMENT to have somn......am i making sense.....


compared to alot of players i am still a newb.......and i am ALL for making the game guaged for higher players....because THEY have WORKED to make it easy for themselves. The newbs...me included will one day work our way to deserving the game to be easier....but till then the newbs do NOT need the game to be made easier.....Dan do as YOU want but i would like it to be fairly to get this new tab.......

Hey Dan, at the end of last year you said the new tech would be coming in "a couple of weeks". Are we still going to get new tech? Any date planned?
