Quantum Firewall Trap and Hacking Ability

I've noticed a couple of times recently that when someone set off a Quantum Firewall Trap and their cloaking should have been reduced to effectively 0, the game still says I can't attempt to hack their ship. Someone hacked me and set off a QFT over 40 minutes ago. I've been watching and they haven't nulled the QFT. I've done all the normal things I can think of (refreshed the browser, etc.), but it still says my cloaking isn't powerful enough. I was hoping to try for that Firewall medal but the last 2 hackers who set off QFTs on my ship were like this. I presume if I set off someone else's QFT, then use a dark pyramid and attempt to hack this player, I won't be able to (if I can't attempt it when I have over 2K cloak). I can see everything on this player's ship, but not attempt to hack them. Is this an issue or is the ability to hack based on the cloak levels before the QFT effect is taken into account? Thanks for any assistance and/or clarification.

Their scan blocks your hack attempts, not their cloak.

Their CLOAK PLUS SCAN blocks your hack attempts.

If I understand it right :
Target Scan > Your cloak blocks the HACK button
When you clicked : Target Scan+Cloak vs Your cloak decides your ability to hack.

wiki page on hacking: http://galaxylegion.com/wiki/index.php/Hacking

Ability to hack is based on Cloak
Success is based on Cloak and Scan
Defense is based on Cloak and Scan

the page was last edited over a year ago ... so i'm not sure why you wouldn't already have seen it.

The original poster was discussing "ability to hack". According to the wiki page on hacking:

Ability to hack is based on Cloak

going directly to the OP: PurFikshun, you do not have to hack someone who has been QFT'd to get the firewall medal. you will not see the red hack button if your cloak is not greater than your target's scan. once you see the red button, you can hack, but you will not have a chance of getting the Firewall medal unless your cloak is greater than your target's cloak AND scan.

the trick is to get QFT'd, then use clouders and flares on your targets before making your hack attempts. just because the red button shows up does NOT mean that you will succeed. it just means that your cloak has surpassed their scan. you will have to continue to work on your target's scan and cloak to knock it down further. and even then, the probability of a successful critical hack is low. if your cloak is beaten badly enough, you may even have a critical failure and reveal one of your own planets to your target.

the firewall medal is NOT an easy medal to get - it requires persistence and luck.
