I'm just trying to cover all the bases so that we can hopefully give Dan a much more complete view if what's goj going on and then maybe he will be more likely to at the very least help you look into the problem.

Been about a week with no lag. What changed?

For those that are lagging you may want to try a few things.

First change dns servers

Second is to lower your rwin look up dr tcp

sending and receiving large packets can cause problems

(kinda tired atm will go more into this later )

Merged the last two major threads concerning lag. Going to make this the official recurring lag thread.

Been lagging for the last 2 hours after a nice few weeks of lag-free play. I haven't changed a thing on my end.

Just started lagging again. Lag is so bad during PVP that I'm having to reload the page to get the blue bar to go away.

It's because people are busy hammering the server because of the seasonal NPCs. There's nothing Dan can do about that I'm afraid.

[sarcasm] Well that's interesting. I thought lag was something wrong on my end. If you all can't get your story straight, how are we ever going to fix lag[/sarcasm]. But, to your point, Dan is using rackspace to host the GL "server". AWS would be better (but what do I know), but either way, it's supposed to be able to scale up with demand. Yes, there is something Dan can do about it. He just needs to design the game on the backend to facilitate scaling up to meet demand. (or, just my suggestion here, maybe don't resend the entire page with each click). He could also take the money he makes from GP and invest (keyword there) in better bandwidth or more cpu cycles.

That's something I'd like done, yeah ( JSON <3 ), but it won't fix the situation entirely. More people playing = more lag, it's a general rule of thumb.

The whole point of rackspace and other clooud hosted solutions is that you CAN ramp up amd back down to meet fluctuating demand, and only pay for the resources actually used. If server load is causing lag, then dan either isn't utilizing the on-demand ramp up of cloud resources correctly, or he's not willing to pay for the extra resources (extra cpu cycles, ram, etc).

Horrible lag, past couple weeks.
Thought it was my internet, so replaced all the hardware.

Every site works fine except Galaxy Legion.
Never-ending loading bar, where I have to end spam click the tabs in order for any data to register.
For example, click to collect resources, loading forever, click Trade a bunch, minerals arrive.
Click sell, loading forever, click Trade a bunch, minerals sell.
Then 5 minutes later, what ever page I am on, reverts back to the Trade tab, showing me the minerals that arrived 5 minutes before and already sold.

How many people have to complain before this gets fixed? I believe it is a GL/Dan's server issue as I have no problem elsewhere. Problem is getting gradually worse day by day.

I just downgraded my Comcast from 50 to 20 Mbps. Most sites were capping me anyway and I wanted more channels (but didn't want to pay more). Anyway, I don't notice a difference. Still the same amount of Lag.
