I've got five (standard/common) NPC's on my battle tab at the moment. Normally I have four NPC slots, and a fifth if I complete a mission that has a battle "reward". I've heard that you can unlock more NPC slots later in the game, except I haven't done anything special lately or completed any missions that grant this as an award. But a fifth NPC slot just appeared after I defeated an NPC - instead of being replaced by one, it was replaced by two. I've literally gained an extra slot from nowhere. Why?

I'm not complaining about it. The more NPC's the better far as I care. I've hard reloaded the game but that didn't fix it. I tried clearing my cache, and defeating the new NPC, but it was replaced by another NPC. It's cool, but odd. I'm posting about this just in case the game thinks i'm cheating, because i'm not.

Happened to me too, but when I was refreshing the battle tab, I clicked extremely fast and I got a fifth randomly, but when I killed one the fifth disappeared.

what mission gives you 4 npc slots

Two of them are from the "Glaviz Incident" chain, which I'm sure you have available, and two are from the Lazuli chain, which you may not have (I don't know your level).

I guess I should've listened to you Brock, the fifth slot finally disappeared after I killed an NPC just now.

Oh well, the main reason why I posted this is because it's never happened to me before and I didn't want the game to identify me as a cheat or something. I know of several people in the game that are apparently cheating, and I certainly don't want to be associated with them. They've all been reported for their actions. The Paladins of Galaxy Legion are proud to be anti-cheats.

Now i'm gonna start working on the Lazuli Mission chain to get those extra slots.
