During the mission chain where you obtain the Tarlis Codes, I was easily powerful enough to simply blast the actual Tarlis ships apart with ease without using the codes. Now I have the codes hanging around in my inventory.

The codes say they take down the shields on "most" Terran Outsider ships. So when I ran across a Telarys today I tried one out on it. The code applied a "Shield -10000" debuff, but with no actual change in hit points.

While I'm pretty sure this is intentional that the codes only work on the Tarlis, I wished to document this occurrence.

This has been a bug for a LONG time. It is pretty annoying but most of the time contacting Dan will at least get you a new one.

Why would I want a new one? If I got a secret weapon for a certain mission and it turns out I didn't need it, and I can't use it on anything else, why would I want more? It's like explaining the Enigma code to the British after Germany was defeated.

Oh damn, Godwin's Law.

iirc it does lower the total dmg needed to kill a Telarys by 10k, i.e. the lock amount is usually 30k per person, but it lowers to like 26.7k after tarlis code usage.

It's also rather deceptive too, as a Telarys Carrier usually has 60k shield/30k hull, and when the Tarlis is used, the shields become 50k.

However the glitch that occurs is that it doesn't change to 50000/60000 shield left, it just changes the entire shield bar to 50000/50000, and because the bar is full you don't realize the decrease has occurred.

That is my recollection as well.

It's not that the code doesn't work, but that the 10k shields are insignificant enough to the whole of the carrier's health as to be unnoticeable.
