I used to experience similar problems while using skype voice chats and playing a video game. While waiting on a game to be found I would tab back and forth to GL and occasionally my old graphics card would just freak out. Images would be replaced with images from other programs. My favorite was while playing Diablo, my friends name suddenly appeared as thus...
