There are missions that pay credits, it's called every mission that you start the game with until you complete those 30-50 missions.
People don't want credits from most of their missions, they want actual rewards that can benefit them and after you gain some ranks, you can pull in far more credits from having actual mining planets than any mission could ever pay you.
I'm not trying to save the galaxy, if anything we're waging war across the galaxy, hence this being a war game. My payment comes from the planets i steal, the minerals i produce from those stolen planets and the ap/minerals i steal from another players ship.
This isn't a "saving the galaxy" game. I don't know where you got that idea from lol.
