You buy player part off the market (research lvl appropriate) or a randomly generated research lvl appropriate parts list of course most are in pretty crappy condition while others are practically brand new for half the price, and no materials needed to install them.

You could theoretically buy a Heavy Disruptor at lv 10.

The only way this should be implemented is if it did not involve money. Money is something you need but always have if you play right.

Another idea might be to turn this into a mission of sorts. With a chance to receive an item similar to the radiant weapon locker but for all your parts. 1 or 2 levels higher max.

I've only been playing for a few weeks, so, now that you mention that then it all makes sense.
