So there are several players out there that just disable themselves before they go offline. Then when they come back on they repair, do whatever they do and then disable again when they are done. This way they can keep their stats padded and prevent anyone from getting a red badge. Please do something to address the issue.

Simple solution that requires no coding changes. Every time you find someone disabled (which they shouldn't be on the BT anyway) zero out their raids and hacks. lather, rinse, repeat next time you see them. Eventually, they'll get tired of being zero'd and stop being a candy-ass.

The new halcyon trap rules make self disabling appealing to high action players. They badge blitz while online then self disable until their actions drop enough to either equip a halcyon or calming amp while offline. Zero them on hacks and raids if able. I suggest a new stat that penalizes combat rep like "kills - disables - self disables = "true" combat rep". If a player uses self disables to keep their disabled count low it will show in the new stat and impact their combat rep in proportion to their use of that tactic.

Now that sounds great. A self disable counter is an awesome way to keep track of people. Could even include that state in the leader board for the wall of shame.

If they've self-disabled after a badge run, they should be on a lot of people's newsfeed then, right? So zeroing their hack/raid counters should be way easier than they likely want it to be...

Now I just heard of this great strategy. Thank you guys for pointing this out. Inadvertently of course, but you did. After this complaint over a few people, the strat will spread like wild fire, I guess.

good thing about self-disablers... it's much easier to get yellow badges from them.... don't have to waste energy disabling them first...

actually, its a bit wrong... to make a count of self disable... i do that pretty much always when i npc'ing... that will mean that will be on leader/shame board in meters of few npc hunts... which is not nice... same with base fights, if there is some base which bites back hardly i disable my self atleast 4-5 times to get my badges... and there is nothing to do with hiding form BT...

Rank 248 and just now learning about self-disabling? By the way I was commenting then made a suggestion, not complaining and there is a subtle difference. As for the strategy spreading like wildfire, it has already been around a long time so those are some cold embers. More than a few people leverage this strategy and there are already threads in this forum debating it as either a cowardly way to pad statistics or an acceptable combat tactic.

aye... XRP Warp Stations and some bases still tend to do over 10% damage to my hull from time to time (if i don't have nanites crawling all over my ship at the time)... so there are cases where the self-disabling is accidental...

at your lvl you can fit on ship what ever you want... but i need to choose what i want... i rather deal more damage and spend more nanos and credits for repair my self, cuz if i max out my attack i dont have lots of space left for defense...
and its a reason why i disable my self so much...

I also suggested to Dan that players should not be able to collect resources when disabled. That way they cant hide all day and have 0 to take from them. I know a few people who have others collect for them when they are not around. Kinda makes sense too that if your ship is all busted up you couldnt pick up any minerals or artifacts anyhow.

That would take some major adjustments.... what happens if u get disabled 5 min after you log off? your next login is 12 hours later ... lose half your days income due to bad luck ... have to give this idea a -1

I think what Jason is saying is they can't hit collect buttons , they still get there hourly.

I haven't been able to self disable since I was in the rank 100s....then again I haven't hit a base or NPC that could to 10% of my hull in damage since then either(I was rank 100 long before bases) so it really hasn't even been an option for me, and probably for most higher ranked players unless the take down a bunch of hull(which I kinda doubt they'd want to do every time the went offline)

my point is, this is kinda seems like a low rank problem

it's easy for low ranks to self-disable...

if a high rank is doing it though, and you notice it day after day.... it's usually deliberate....

............. like...... tapping Exotica... that'll usually do capped damage to most people
