Hello everyone!

A bit earlier, RexMundiAbu and I were conspiring about a new idea we came up with. Now, similar ideas to this have been mentioned in the past, although our idea is a bit tweaked. So, we all know we have a diplomacy tab, and we're allowed to make Non-Aggression pacts, Trade pacts, and Battle pacts. Why cant we make "war" pacts, or be able to declare war on somebody officially? So, we propose that legions, under the diplomacy tab, should be able to "Declare War" on another legion an have it listed as "At War with ______." In the course of that war, offensive actions would be kept track of on a list for all to look at. Such as amount of disables, raids, hacks, and planet thefts counted for against the other legion. Although, what happens if you get in over your head, and you dont want to be at war with them anymore? You can break the pact by clicking "Surrender" to end the war. After a winner is declared, it's optional that the winning legion should receive an award.

Idea is up for constructive criticism, and tweaking. What are your thoughts?

I'm sure I wasn't the 1st to suggest it ... but it sounds a lot like my idea.
"True Legion War"

I want to expand on this idea.

First issue to point out, If there was 20 war slots, every one would be declaring war on every one.
You have 1,000+ legions. Imagen how many declared war upon the dysonains. they would be Spammed.

So first, I think you should include a energy fee, 1,000 Energy for a declaring war should do it.
Second, A legion is limited to 1 war slot per Embassy, Limited to 5 per legion.

Third, When in war or war declared on a legion, Both bases have a 10% Upkeep increase.

Forth, Both legions have 5% defense boost against each others ship.
(Would say 5% attack, But this could be abused through badging)

Only The legion or declared war can remove the war pact.
There could be a claus that is the defending Legion disables the legion who declared war, base, The war pact is canceled
(End of War).

This would make war much more fun.

+1 to the over all idea. I am supportive of anything that moves us further along an official legion war system.
Each incarnation of this suggestion/ request adds a new twist or idea; and I am all for it.

A group of us have been working on scoring wars personally. We would offer our services to the legions involved.
You will hear more about this later.

I like it just a few things though.

1. Only a leader of either legion should be able to end a war by surrendering.
2. Going from JF's end of war idea, I think that instead of just one base disable that maybe the side that offers the war pact should get to pick from a list of end war things. Then the other side can either accept or decline. Say something like war class's.
a. small war: 100 disables, 500 raids, 500 hacks, 1 base disable to end the war. Need two of them.
b. mid war: 250 disables, 1500 raids, 1500 hacks, 2 base disables to end the war. Need two of them.
c. Large war: 500 disables, 3500 raids, 3500 hacks, 3 base disables to end the war. Need two of them.
d. Huge war: 1000 disables, 7000 raids, 7000 hacks, 4 base disables to end the war. Need two of them.
e. Galactic war: Most have 1500 disables, 10000 raids, 10000 hacks, and at least 5 base disables to win this war.

Winners of each war would get some sort of crate depending on the size of the war.

All info would be kept track of in a tap off the Diplomacy tab.

Thats my two cents on it. lol

I like this.

What if no one wants to accept war from you though? There should be a situation where the opposing legion can't decline your war request.
How many legions out there will honestly accept a war with the top legions?

A list I made a while back with old war mode suggestions, just post so you can look and maybe take inspiration from them.

Though I do like Mojo's idea as stated above, there should be something in place to prevent it becoming a one ship fight. If a way to track the disables/raids/hacks was available, say a war stat board for each legion you're at war with was implemented, tracking each player in your legion's actions against the other, without X number of people on the board no rewards are given. This would help against a turtle-halc method where everyone hides away while one ship does the fighting as I see all too often...

i like the idea, but the reward should not be in place, as a mutli can just keep surrendering for ages and get good rep on his legion , not to mention free rewards

aprt from that awsome idea

Totally Agreed. I proposed a type of "call to action" that tracks the actual number of ships engaged in the fight. Perhaps you even award bonus points to the legion that enlists the most ships.

For example:

Legion A- has 20 ships out of 50 willing to fight, so they get 5 points for each ship; giving them 100 bonus points from the start.

Legion B- only has 10 ships out of 50 willing to fight, so at 5 points each, they start with 50 point from the start.

*perhaps 'willing to fight' is the wrong phrase to use, because as Billk pointed out, it could be a planned tactic one side is using. By making Legion B start with a greater deficit, it should help account for the fact that they are more likely to get more kills since they have more targets and fewer ships exposed. If a disable is worth 5 points, then Legion B has to get 10 more disables just to break even. Again this is to balance out the unfair problem Legion A faces.

Or, instead of giving bonus points for enlisting (since technically every ship in the legion should be in the war anyway), maybe you go the negative route with the scoring. Instead of giving 'call to arms' points, you take away 'coward' points. It's the same principle either way.

Legion A- has 50 ships, but 30 back out of the fight. They start the war minus 150pts.
Legion B- has 50 ships, but 40 back out of the fight. They start the war minus 200pts.

Good point. So to get around that we should mod it a little. So lets say you can only surrender if the enemy team has less then half of the needed points to win the war. You can also only surrender on war types c, d, and e. If you do surrender on them then the diff between your two scores has to be by say a 50% margin. And depending on how far apart you are in the war or what the total score is depends on what the enemy team gets. So say the war just starts or is started on accident. Then if the enemy team has 2 disables and you have none then you can surrender and neither team gets anything. But if you are in a type d war and your team has 200 disables and 350 raids on the enemy team and they have 400 disables and 2000 raids on you. You can surrender and they will get a type b reward. So pretty much at the point of a surrender the winning team only gets the reward for the type of war they did the damage for rounded down. Type b being the smallest. So if they didn't get 250 disables, 1500 raids or hacks, or 2 base disables then they don't get anything. This will require them to do a lot of work to get there. Also if one team gets to say half of the needed points and the other team doesn't even have 10% of the needed points then its an auto surrender and neither team gets anything. Another thing that could help is say if you surrender in a war then you get a two week timer before you can claim, accept, or join a war again with any legion. I say join because this way you can't leave and start another legion if you are a multi and reset the timer or go and join another legion. Any disables, raids, hacks or anything else would not count on you nor would yours count on them. You would have a white flag symbol on your ship as well to tell others that you where part of a surrounding legion. Another thing that would be nice to have is to have it so that the leader can't just surrender and screw his whole legion. You would needs say six votes to surrender each of the six should cost roughly 1000 energy to submit. One from a leader. Two from officers and three from members. This would make it a legion wide thing. Anyone could offer it up at any point but until it got all the votes needed then nothing happens. Also more then the needed amount of one group can vote to surrender as well but only the needed amount counts. So say 10 members in your legion want to surrender. They can all vote on it but only three of the votes count. The others are stated on the side with a list of who voted. That way you can let your voice be known to all and try and change a leaders/officers mind on the matter.

Now about no one wanting to go to war with you. I don't really know what to say here but maybe if the enemy legion has disabled, raided/hacked, or disabled your base X amount of times in a week then you get a message saying you can go to war with this legion and they can not decline or surrender if you want to. I also think that declaring war should take at least three votes as well. Each vote should cost a good amount of energy.

Another thing that should be added to the stats in a war are planet steals. I don't know how I forgot them in my other post but they should be a deciding factor for sure.

Now for the one ship fight prob. I think that every ship in the enemy legion that you are at war with should be open game. No matter what they have on them. So halcs and calming amps should have no effect. Also I think things such as medals, ship designs, ship names, and so on should be given to players who do really good in each of the war sections. As well as medals to everyone who helped in some of the larger wars. Also if a player doesn't at least do X amount of the needed things for the war then the should not get a reward from it. This would help with free loaders as well and help with team work. Maybe even have a section that shows how much damage your players have done to enemy ships. So you can see if they are just unlucky and not getting the killing shoot on a enemy or if the enemy is just repairing a lot. I also think that if at elast 40% of your legion doesn't help in the war then you should get docked on what rewards you get. All of that should help with that prob.

Hope that helps a bit more sorry for the long post. lol

One more thing. If you are in a war with another legion. Then all of their players should show up on your scan with a % increase in finding them regardless of rank, scan, or cloak.

The point on declaration is a good one, since most legions have around 5-10 Leaders/Officers 3 votes would be good for the smaller wars, but say 5 votes for the bigger ones, since going all out should be thought about a bit more

I can agree with that. Maybe even make it more like surrendering where you need votes from leaders, officer, and members for class d and e wars at least. More votes needed for larger and larger wars.

maybe base the number of votes on the number of officers/leaders? always has to a majority vote for war or surrender.

Good idea, as officers/leaders are those who run the legion.
