Hey! I nominate myself!

You guys don't know me very well, but I'm an active player and a super active lurker. I've been posting more and more, but get this- no one hates me yet! (well, no one that posts on the forums) AND I have experience moderating a Star Wars message board. (LOL... oh nerdrage)

So as far as unbiased goes, I'm pretty good at that sort of thing.

I also keep a level head and love helping newbs.

I'm in California with the rest of you PST miscreants.

EDIT: I also second the noms for Tree, ICBLF and Thunderbolta.

I want to nominate, varunjitsingh146, and Preliator Xzien

I want varunjitsingh146 because he has taught me how to use and navigate the forums which took about 2 weeks due to my inability to do anything on this forum, thanks bro.

I also want Preliator Xzien because i have never seen anyone work so hard to try to help this game revive to what it once was, in amount of active members, then anyone else, he has also helped teach me how to make my ship better, and makes me use propper grammar on the forums.

Given the last statement...

Others have nominated me, and I would wish to nominate myself. As many people, such as Kara, can tell you, I'm very level headed. I log in frequently. Perhaps too frequently, actually. Haha. Though I don't post nearly as much as I used.

As my join date will tell you, I'm not exactly new to these forums, having been here for a little over two years.

I've been a moderator on another forum, and whilst relatively quiet, it used the same software as this so I'm familiar with the ins and outs of merging, deleting, etc.

I'm in UK time.

As a player user of the forums, I didn't need impartiality and of course took sides, although I almost always left when things turned pear-shaped. The only exception being an encounter with a select group of individuals in regards to my legion. Nobody's perfect I suppose.

I made a forum absence thread here, although I never truly left, having logged on quite frequently to check the boards. Recently I decided to attempt to reintroduce some posting activity as well.

I'm fully aware of the responsibilities of moderator, having done it once before. And although I thank you Flux for the glowing review, I do feel obliged to point out that my past isn't entirely incident free ;) I do hope to take my combined experience into moderating here, if I'm privileged enough to be given that responsibility.

SenatorHung and Mojo are the only two people that I would want in that sort of position off the top of my head.

While I have been nominated myself by several people and feel I would do a good job moderating, I can't help but laugh a bit... A few month ago, several of those nominated already tried to start an impartial and unbiased group to help moderate in-game and forum disputes and we were flamed for it... :D

It was the presentation that killed that, the wording made it feel like an elite class was trying to rule over the populace, or that's what the posting sounded like at the start

As said above, Golgotha, Tree, Mojo, Annabell, Darth Flag, ICBLF, Kirk and a few more others are the top contender for the forum mod spot, anyone of them can be very helpful around the game. I'm sure Dan will have a tough time picking the top notch players.

True, but in this case, moderating in-game and forum disputes wouldn't be the job assignment, so people have no issue with it, as what you would be assigned to do, should have no impact within the game whatsoever.

Our job, if selected, would be to lock any threads that were turning from disputes into flame wars(i.e. when non-applicable people start getting involved) and manage thread mergers and answer questions, the job is nothing more than that.

The job wouldn't be to see a dispute between two players and try to resolve it, it would be to keep an eye on the thread till it gets out of hand, and then lock it. Any attempt to intervene would always be seen as a biased view or taking sides, to whomever came out on the losing end or whomever had to succeed to a ruling.

In other words, our only job is to make it easier for Dan to notice threads that actually require attention, which means getting rid of all the clutter on these boards, such as the thousands of topics that really should be erased, so Dan has a fresh board at his disposal. That way he can better see the suggestions and issues that need focus more.

Plus it wouldn't hurt to be rid of all the issue/suggestion threads completely and start anew, that way you could really get on top of any issues/suggestions that were repeated.

As mentioned earlier in the thread, our job is nothing more than to cleanup the forums, answer queries, maintain some sort of peace by locking/merging threads and enforcing rules(not discussing them) were necessary. That's it. :)

Kinda sounds like we'd get to be the Dean of a University, dealing with the riffraff lol.

Threatening to quit the game, quit the forum, or just made long ranting post about how bad you have it in real life to the point where you post did nothing constructive for the game or community and was meant only to bring negativity to the forums.

I do agree with the statement earlier, in that, if any person or persons are approached and granted a position as forum moderator, they should of course at least be offered the choice of a new forum account, to provide an anonymity to the position, lest people discover whom that person is, and to prevent any repercussions against them in-game. If they wish to retain their current account, then of course, that is their decision.

Mark my words; this will not end well.

Also, I nominate myself. Yea, that's right: PLURVION for Moderator. I know it looks wrong when I state that no player should be a moderator, but once I am made moderator, I (not you) will decide what looks wrong and what doesn't. My first act as moderator will be to declare that my particular interpretation of things is not subject to inquiry or dissent. Then, BY DEFINITION, I will ALWAYS do the right thing in any situation. How can you not vote for that?

I am happy to help out and thanks for the two nominations earlier in the thread. I am east coast US, on a lot. I do some volunteer work and am used to working with the masses. I've not done much forum moderation but my volunteer job has taught me have to separate out my personal feelings when I do that job.

No one likes to take their personal feelings out but it can be done for the greater good.

Hi everyone.

I agree that things have been a bit quiet lately and our team needs to do a better job in actively replying to the posts being made. Whether a suggestion or a posted issue, we'll aim to make a much better effort in actively fixing and commenting going forward.

Let's keep the existing threads with specific suggestions/issues the place to have these.

I will also be actively looking for new mods this week. Feel free to nominate some that you might have in mind.

We should leave him some days to review the nominates, discuss with some if needed, right?
If yes, I suggest to close the nominations tomorrow GST 13:00 (24 hours from now).

I'm well aware of the responsibilities of a moderator. Just pointing out the irony of the same people trying to help the community with no power being nominated for a position that DOES have some power and influence on the forum and game.

Several of the names already mentioned, in my opinion, would do well as mods assuming anonymity.

Personally I believe I possess all the qualities Dan mentioned even if I'm not well known like Annabell, DF, MLP, and people, but nominating myself seems a bit redundant anyway.

All things considered, I'm central USA time :)

I would also like to state that I would be happy to be a moderator. I am well written, mature when needed and online quite regularly. On top of this, I am quite tech-savvy and I have moderated in the past.

I'd vote kirkeastment and Rarek. I've been in a legion with both of them, and they are helpful as hell. I obviously cannot nominate myself, since I'm a smartass, and hate idiots. Not the best for mod lol. But both of them for sure!

I would vote Darth, but he is a smartass too (Not a bad thing!) and sometimes that rubs people the wrong way.
