If they are somewhere that can't use a computer for a big 6 months? probably not allowed cell phone...
Now, how about a compromise After say 6 months, they lose invincibility, but get some sort of atk, def, population and cloak bonus, which slowly fades away during a period of 1 year. If this bonus is big enough, than it will be semi-invincibly for quite a while longer.

if they can afford to (pay to) rift a planet, they can afford to flux it XD I don't think that's the problem.
it's more a matter of a good planet wasted when someone leaves the game w/o deleting char

That is an unfortunate "if" there is really nothing anyone of can do about that. But anyways, They would just have to log on once within 6 months......IS that impossible? I mean I know nothing of how the military works, but can't he like use his cell phone or something? Are they even allowed to have Cell Phones. i know someone whos in the military hes at afghanistan right now and he gets on at least 5 times a week

If a limit is put on how long an account can be inactive b4 planets turn vulnerable than an option to preserve said account could also be put into place... Say for X gp a month (or week) your acct can be put into holiday mode this would freeze all planets & upkeep This would allow members of the service the option to be away for a long period of time (so long as the price is reasonable) without losing out on planets or having their mods degrade due to lack of upkeep Holiday mode would stay active until the user deactivated it ... if done early the gp is forfeit, also holiday mode should have a cooldown between uses to prevent ppl from hiding perhaps this should have its own thread (or maybe there is one already someplace that i haven't read yet) EDIT viewtopic.php?f=6&t=13787Previous discussion found... covers a lot of the points i made tho some object to the use of gp for holiday mode but i have to disagree .. fb's free offers to get credits are doable with some forethought, The "CrowdFlower" tasks are fairly simple to complete & only take about 30min each... 30 fb credits in 90min gets u 20 GPs if Dan priced holiday mode at 10gp per week a 2 week vacation isnt so hard for 90min of your time

There are plenty of other good planets to take. The difference you would notice by taking one versus the damage the other person would notice by having one of their best planets (that they probably paid for) being taken away ... unreasonable
As far as all the other ideas for making them take a year or so to debuff or having a person go on holiday mode and all these work arounds, the simpler answer is simply to keep them invincible. Right now, there are only 5 planets a player can have that are invincible ... 5. 5 out of 100 planets (for a rank 400, trying to look at middle of the road) is a very small amount that is guaranteed protected. Why do you want to take that away?
We should be giving players -more- opportunities to make planets invincible (not a lot, just one at a time here and there, not in bulk) rather than take them away. To me, it's sort of ridiculous right now, the fact that people sell planets that aren't even owned by them. This is part of the reason we fight so hard to protect them. Yes, it's part of the game. However, a player should at least have -some- planets that cannot be taken away.

I assume Dan will release more if he wants to. We have the dark badge item that helps get cloak to 3500, so that really helps with keeping things out of scan. My point was not so much "We need more" as much as it was a "Do not take away what we were given after we asked for it". We asked for more invincible planets like the mission exotic and dyson. We got them, three rift worlds. Now people are saying take away the invincibility because they want other people's rifts ... Goes back to the comment I made in the other topic. Bottom line, these types of planets (mission exotic, mission dyson, rifts, etc...) should NEVER lose invincibility because of their nature.

if you have a tiny planet with otherwise awesome stats... like a tiny natural exotic.... that would be a good choice (after maximizing those stats if possible...)
i recently turned a tiny ultra/6x/0x into a mega colossal 30x/31x/30x.... took several days with mylarai ability to get the ultra up to 6x, then i popped several planet data optimizers till research was at 6x, then popped a bunch of terraformers until everything was 15x.... then used an enumeration crystal to make artifact 16x, and then rifted it...
