Hum... rather mixed on this one.
On the one hand, I LOVE the idea of hacking or raiding more goodies. I too wish there was a chance you could clean em out in one shot. Hhahahah     Of course, that should come with the necessary counter risks (like losing FIVE crew on a failed overload raid, or giving up the location of THREE of your planets for a failed overload hack). I most certainly think it would crank up the pvp as someone has already mentioned. If you hack for a larger amount, be prepared to get zeroed.

I will also give you a plus 1/2 for the "perfect hack" idea. It would add a fun element to the game if you could keep improving your hacking ability to the point where you could steal some and get away with it.

One last note, as weird as it may sound, I never get badged back much for my hacks either. Now part of that is because I don't look like your typical hacking punching bag. I had insane rep like most fighters around rank 40 or so. And I don't understand why so many hackers neglect their hull and defense. I won't lie to you. It takes a long, long time. I have been playing well over a year. But, it is possible to make an armored hacker.

meh ive tryed as best as i can to make a hybred ship ive put good weapons on and very very heavy defences and hulls at the cost of scan granted i like low scan high cloak it makes me a trap to other hackers they see me with low scan and think i ma easy target only to get counter hacked. But the overload idea is a way to make a less combat agressave hacker be able to soften up a stronger pvp based ship by softening them up so while it wouldnt let the hacker win out right it would give them a fighting chance

Exactly. Too often I have seen low rank people come on here with "wonderful" suggestions to "improve" or "balance" the game because they're getting their butt handed to them because of a bad ship.

I would think that the advise/opinion of an experienced player who PvP's AND hacks would garner a bit more appreciation. Its a BAD idea, and only BAD things would come of it at ALL ranks. If you want to be a dedicated hacker, go for it, be my guest. But don't try to push advantages for a SPECIFIC type of player. There are positives and negatives to every type of specific ship build. If you go heavy into weapons and defense, you're more than likely going to be an easy hack target. If you go scan and cloak to be a hacker, you're ship is more than likely going to get disabled very easy. That's called balance.

Totally agree Darth. These suggestions come from players that haven't even made it to rank 100 yet. Coming from someone who was an avid hacker for the first 60 ranks and even wrote a guide on it: as it stands, hacking is one of the least rewarding attacks in the game, which is balanced by the facts that it's also the easiest and least energy intensive to accomplish. Face it. You guys are trying to be hackers at your low rank with small ships which is a bad idea. To be successfull at hacking you need every cloak mod you can get on your ship, which is a fairly big mod. THen you need some scan, which is one of the 2 biggest mods. This is just to be a hacker. To be a tough ship, you need a ton of defense, wich also tied with scanners to be the biggest mods you put on your ship, along with hull and shields for hitpoints. To put it bluntly, to be a good hacker with a ship tough enough to discourage counter attacks, you need a very very big ship, something your just not going to have at your rank ranges. And since no one at your rank range is going to purposly uninstall all their ship mods and build cloaks to just to retaliate a hack with a hack at your rank, they're just gonna do what they do best and that's retaliate by killing you, which is quite easy to do. Bottom line, forget being a hacker at your rank and focus on building a bigger ship. If you attribute all your rank points to decks and build a big artifact production, by the time your in your mid to late 100s, you'll have a ship big enough to pack on all your hulls, shields, defense mods, cloakers and possibly even a good scanner, and you'll be much better at hacking and you'll see a lot less retaliation.
