I think you are missing the point. We are suggesting an option to increase Dan's revenue stream by filling a boutique need - partial refills at a small premium. For those of us with large energy bars, it makes paying Dan for the chance to do missions faster more affordable, and more likely to happen. We would actually rank more slowly, with more productivity per rank. Players win, Dan wins, the only potential losers are the bases not getting as much energy from overs. And for that, Tris and cubes still abound.

Back in my day we did a little something called wait and be patient.

Regardless of whether or not it makes Dan more money, he has proven multiple times in the past that he will stick by his own rules and what he says regardless of the money. It's common logic that if you dump energy into something, you're gonna get closer to ranking up. Whether you do missions, pvp, npc, scan, invade, base battles or donate to your base, you're getting exp.

Dan does not want people to get ahead of him, nor does he want them to slow down to a halt. Hence why he's put in so many things to slow people down and why he has not implemented anything that lowers the exp you get. And tbh this is the first time I've seen a suggestion like this, so I don't see how it's a 'boutique need'. If Dan thought that the rate of ranking needed to be changed, he would have adjusted it by now. He hasn't.

Why not a full refill?

Consider the following: You just went on an NPC run, or a Mission run, or whatever, and wasted every shred of energy you had left, but your still, maybe, 4000 experience away from a rank.
Now, that would take, probably about 1000 energy to reach, which by waiting, if your at the max charge rate, is 8.3 hours.
Then, someone locks a base, that they cant finish without you, or some other circumstance that requires your assistance.
If your like me, your gona want to help, but your not gona want to waste 10GP on a full refill of your 10.000+ energy, when your about 1000 away from ranking.
So, if you had an option for filling half your energy, for 6GP, you'd save yourself 4 GP, and avoid wasting most of your energy.

This is the basic concept of the argument for half-refills.
Personally, im against it, i'd rather just wait, and take down the next base in stead.

In that case, I would say why not? It shouldn't be all that hard for Dan to add, and it could help him increase revenue.

I like the idea personally. There's been alot of times that i only needed half a bar to rank. I rarely "buy" energy refills but i'd probably buy energy alot if i could get the half refills for select ranking.

+1
