The math isn't 100% as simple as implied as you have a 3 planet buffer if you'd used the Drannik colony ships. Then 600 level later, will you remember if you still own those planets?
A long time ago in a thread, Dan said you shouldn't need a spreadsheet to keep track of things in the game. The game has evolved to something you need to keep track of everything on one;
-Where and when to use my trellith ability
-Where and when to use my race ability (where applicable)
-Tons of temp boosts that you might want reminders on
-When was the last time you flux probed, who viewed the planet (number or names), etc
-I can keep going but the list is pretty endless at the moment.

It's not like this one request will necessarily trump others.
If you want to vote down every request that's not in your core "I want them now" requests, that doesn't even begin to count as constructive discussion of new features.
This is a huge problem here. Almost everyone gets blinders on to anything but the specific things that matter to them. This game needs a TON of quality of life updates that need to be made. Most of them aren't new content or even something I might see at my level but it doesn't make them less viable.
I've been done with research for way more than a year... is it two at this point? I don't remember. But I still think that younger players having to click the right arrow to get to their current research is still stupid.
Still no data on the bases we are locking before we lock them? (minimal should give you the info people care about; fixers, aerlens, lazuli, number of races, etc).
There have been any number of promised updates that just have never materialized to the detriment of the long term health of the game.
A healthy game will contain a lot of quality of life updates that are positive for all players. This game just doesn't seem to have them... or at least not regularly.
This is the perfect example of something a programmer could probably whip up in less than 15 minutes and add an improvement to the game, even if a little one.
