If I lost a crew member every time I was disabled I would be very ticked off. I would consider it just like lossing a 15X arti planet and act accordingly. Now I wouldn't mind if Dan instead made it more expensive to repair your ship if you have more hull or maybe even made the nano's repair 25K - 50K hull with each one making us use more of them for each repair but taking a crew is overkill.

Ship size: Colossal Galaxy Destroyer,
Because just destroying your star wasn't enough.

Not that I would push for this or anything but I wouldnt disagree that repair costs could be more. 200 mil max is really not much, for most people 200 mil is chump change..However increasing repair costs, not only hurts the attacker but also hurts the people who wake up to a disabled ship. Increasing repair costs would only make the passive players more upset when they get disabled off bt.
I have played games in the past where your ship did not just get disabled, but destroyed all together, sending you home in an escape pod. Instead of just repairing your ship, you had to buy a new one plus outfit it with weapons and tech. In those games, losing a battle could actually hurt you if you didnt have the funds to replace your ship making you buy a lesser ship until you built your funds back up. This would not really work in this game however, so being disabled instead of destroyed is fine.

I wouldn't change the repair drones at all. They are fine as is.

And 1 more time for the record,
-1 to the OP, I disagree with any idea that suggests we should lose crew members.

I don't even think this idea needs an explanation. If so then I'll leave it to DF to drill you on why this idea is terrible...

Even though I now hope to find you on the BT (at rank 608), I do also strongly disagree with this idea. The only way this idea would be fair is if crewmembers were made more easily replaceable.

Until that happens (which I doubt, but if so, cloning pods would probably do the trick), let's keep them around. - Asheron

You're just lucky I'm not sprting any of the expensive mods... and the fact that I'm no longer Konqul.

Yeah, sorry, but that is a horrible idea, guaranteeing that the weak get weaker while the strong get stronger. Also completely unnecessary, imo.

How about ship having % chance of crew mutinies (or union strikes) due to (ongoing) inadequate upkeep fees?

Some crew might got killed in the process?

For a lot of people losing a single crewmen out of tens of thousands would still be no deterrent. Especially since they are adding more every hour. This would really put a damper on new players though where every bit of crew is important.

Darth's right about this only being a deterrent for the lower ranks.

And as far as what people say about the insignificant cost of being disabled by another ship, I think you're looking at those statements out of context...

But in the other forums, people are saying things like "a disable only costs 200m credits or a nano to repair", so there's no disincentive to avoid getting disabled. If you knew you would lose a random crew member, surely that would make you more vigilant about making your ship stronger?

Or are the PVP-ers afraid that they might have people gang up on them? Not that they've ever disabled easy pickings, right? ;)

The reason comments like this are so often made is because so many players complain and/or get overly concerned that their ship is regularly disabled. I doubt that any of the comments you are referring to have been made in order to suggest there should be an actual cost to your ship every time you are disabled so that it would be taken more seriously by others. People already lose the plot as it is, even though it costs them nothing?!? and is of great benefit to the attacking PvPers that are collecting badges, medals and other rewards for doing so.
