Forgive me for not knowing much about Halo, but I figured this is more of a parody. But I'm mostly serious about these ideas.
*I would rename Spartans into Golems. It is taken figuratively by their stalwart fighting, but can also be taken literally by the many cybernetic implants they have. *Captain Smith. The rename of Master Chief. Possibly throw in a little of Han Solo and Captain Kirk in there as well. *The Flood will be called The Virus. they look like a bulky humanoid tangle of worms. They are very territorial, and their usual practice of taking over planets is by nuking and infecting the @#$% out of it and then terraforming it into their liking (apparently they like a planet full of noxious gases, parasitic plants, and radiation).
In fact, I'm just going to make a mission chain of this. Expect it to be put up in the forums within a week.

I liked the idea of the planet, without the Halo parody stuff.

While I couldn't give two dynite chunks about the Halo franchise, I was sorta surprised that ringworlds weren't in the game like dyson spheres are. They'd take less resources to create, bein' mere strips compared to a sphere.
Appease Larry Niven and add this world-type in, Dan! Mebbe he'll come play?

Yes, a ring planet is as unoriginal as almost, if not all the other planets in the game (Dan didn't invent Gas planets, after all). Aside from that, a planet that's extremely rare, has really good resources (not as good as Dyson, but better than most) and has passive invasion defense could be cool.

I think the terraforming limit should be raised on normal dysons to 50x mega rich. The last one I saw was collosal and 22x mega rich in mining for the best stat. I have 27 15x mega-rich planets and it is easy to make planets bigger than collosal and mining isn't really what I am looking for.
That way a dyson ring could still be mythically awesome to some lesser degree and not be overshadowed by user-created planets.

ok look u guys really really need to dive a tad deeper into the halo story line... as one of the animated movies shows... the rings where already used... all species in the galaxy where wiped out... the ancients all gone... only they're remnants remain (halo's) the flood where wiped from the galaxy all the races wiped from the galaxy where well kinda cloned with the arks "seeding the planets" that where wiped clean of the flood and every life form in the galaxy as the story tells and also... it was so long until the flood eventually come back from the void... the halo's where activated at an ark or where ever it may have been ring or what not... cortana is an ancient A.I which is spilled in the prelude reach... john and cortana never ended up dieing if u watched the end credits to halo3 so it will be interesting to see if they bring out another halo... and um yea o my char names for XBL are spermofjebus and psychoticaussie so damnit add me and lets pwn some kids mwhahaha

i never really found halo to have any substance whatsoever... all the pieces were there to be really cool... but the gameplay was lacking and the storyline was inconsistant. the only part of halo i enjoy is griffball and zombies. and thats only if im playing with my friends.
