You obviously didn't read my first post completely.

This artifact would NOT remove base and NPCs. ONLY PvP (i.e. any player against player negative action defined as attacking, disabling, hacking, raiding, or using debuff artifacts or other negative artifacts).

This would allow the person to do Missions, NPCs, Base combat (even though it's legion against legion, you aren't directly fighting the player and it in no way hampers the ability of any players to play the game), etc.

The reason this is better than the current Calming Amp is because the current calming amp does not protect anything from anything. The reason it's needed is because with the way it is currently, it's too easy to be harassed. Speaking from my personal perspective, there are a lot of times that I'm going on an NPC blitz trying to find an NPC (like when I was searching for Caelon) and there were quite a few times when I was hit with a containment missile and/or debuffs to the point that I could not NPC nearly at all. I would rebuff only to be hit again. I would use a calming amp and a containment missile would bit sent my way and I'd be debuffed again. The calming amp should protect players from that.

I understand this but I dont understand how its not gonna be abused. I prefer my settings idea :)

That's why we should have discussions like this, to pool all the good ideas (a setting would still be a good idea!) and try to find the best possible solution so that everyone benefits! :)

I've played games before with "Peace Modes"

If you were going to go this route I'd propose:

Peace Mode - Once activated player will become immune to all combat/artifacts from other players and be removed from the battle tab. Once activated will take 24 hour to go into effect (and players can cancel at any time). Players in peace mode won't be allowed to send/receive artifacts to/from other players. Players in peace mode will receive a 5% penalty in all shipments and race/profession bonuses wont apply. Must stay in peace mode for one week after activation before it can be removed.

I agree with all of that other than the race/profession bonuses not applying. The race/profession bonuses help with Missions and NPCs and everything else. The ship's stats are the number one thing for a player. A person shouldn't be punished because they don't want to PvP as much/at all.

Now, I do think a 5% extra tax on production wouldn't be the worst thing in the world although I don't understand why you want to penalize people that want to simply play without being harassed.

If it came to it, if -something- had to be 'taken' to make everyone happy, an extra 5% tax on production isn't the worst thing in the world. The race/profession abilities should remain though. They wouldn't be able to be used against other players, but are still useful for every other aspect of the game, so no reason they should be taken away.

That's cool! Just trying to keep the topic peaceful and on track. Trying to make this topic a culmination of ideas and suggestions that could lead to a benefit for everyone. No idea is too big or small, all ideas are good even if the end result is simply a small piece of every idea! :)

Again, making CA effect immune to CM's would make the CA work as originally intended.

I see the CA as a tool to avoid harrassment or being farmed. For example, I wasn't doing PvP for a few days so I had the usual 3 - 5 - 5 actions of a non-PvP'ing player. So far, so good. Then suddenly, a bunch of people attacked me and went through my traps. This was not from an alert because I did nothing alert-enabling. What's more, the bunch of people were all from DIFFERENT legions, so apparently they coordinated it through finding me on a BT, and then FB-chat to hit me at the same time. One of them said it was for something another legionmate of mine did, of which I had no idea about.

Another example- The same guy keeps hitting me from the BT, day after day. Can't be tabbed because of the auto-refresh feature, so probably hunting me down for some reason even though I never retal or did any combat whatsoever aganist that person or his legion. Apparently that persom must tap everyone off his BT to make my name appear over and over.

If I throw on CA, I can make those kinds of unprovoked farming. Then I can do missions or NPC's in peace without worrying about harrassment. When I want to actively PvP, then its fair game to be attacked or badged or whatever.

Solution: CA is immune to CM's and can only be activated if the player has 3 - 5 - 5 actions or less.

I think the idea behind it being removable is that when you get offline to go to sleep you can just put one up and you're ship will be totally immune while you're offline. Players need badges too guys.

Red badges = Dominion Cannons, nothing else.

Players do not -need- red badges. HOWEVER, even still, if people that are "Truce"d are removed from the battle tab, people can still target the other players that want to be involved in PvP.

To be honest, the real main thing is the artifacts and debuffs and such. Disables aren't too bad, can get irritating, but the really bad part is the debuffs to where you can't do NPCs or the missions that require higher stats.

Players would still be able to get badges even if this artifact were implemented (whether just the Calming Amp not being removable by C.Missles and making the player immune to artifacts or a new artifact).

EDIT: I should rephrase. Red badges are also base scanning. So, I see that point, badges are still important to all players. HOWEVER, I refer to my other comment that there are still plenty of other players in the PvP world that would be there.

Most likely, most people wouldn't continuously use this "Enhanced Calming Amp". However, it should exist in game to help protect people from harassment even if just for a little while.

The thing is though, CA's have always been like this ever since I can remember and I started back in December, which is long before badges and bases.

Even still, there should be -some- method for players to be in "Peace" in some way shape or form. I think that peace would be better if it still allowed the player to do missions or NPCs and such. The main problem comes around when people can consistently harm another player not just by disables, but also by debuffs, and if a person is just upset and wants to ruin the game for another person they can by simply throwing arts at the person constantly.

Even in other games where PvP is a huge portion (and I mean a huge portion that would make this games PvP look like a pillow fight), the fighting doesn't get in the way of the rest of the game. What I mean by that is that even if you get killed, you can still do missions/quests/etc and things like that. However, in Galaxy, someone debuffs you and you lose a majority of the game. I have not seen many other games where a single player can debuff the stats of another person sometimes by 100%.

Me either .. I've tried to help change it for a while now but things take time. Hopefully this is the time.

We promised an overhaul to these artifacts a long time ago but it has taken a while to come up with a balanced set of mechanics that will work for everyone. I think we are close. Note that these changes are really geared towards those who do not wish to engage in PvP much at all.
