I will send Dan the List in around 20 hours, giving everyone Sunday evening and a full Monday to nominate someone/themselves, Potential mods need to log in often, so this partially confirms that they do log in often. Not seeing my name on that list ya got there!failname wrote: Some simple rules to nominate someone:

Most of the time MLP uses his troll grammar, and at times he can be really helpful and he's also a very experienced player, he just need to tone down his trolling I see no problem with MLP as a GL player or being a forum mod.

Of that list, I choose Preliator Xzien and Tree7304. Reasons for Xzein- In addition to seeing him on several posts on the forums he participates in other community events, such as the Minecraft Survival games (Even though he stops moving in the middle of a battle to type coms) Reasons for Tree- I see Tree in just as many posts as Xzien, and can balance sarcasm with seriousness and set maters straight if a thread is going haywire.

As for the grammar issue. I can fix it allot and make my post better and more legible . I'm also going off Dan's post. I think Fail name did a grate thing here making this topic. But We should let Dan be the one who chooses the people. We all know he will do so. If we truly have people wanting to give this an honest shot, Willing to stop some of there recent behaviors, lets put them on the list. I hope when Dan dose pick a few candidates he interviews them be fore trying them out. A few simple questions and a post history check can clear many nominees out. Also check my recent post. I've toned much down before this even come up. and will be toning down a lot more.

Although there are many nominations, it would be easier to know which members are actually interested in taking on the role, and we can go from there. 1) Already on almost all the time. I'm in grad school for game programming, so I pretty much check the forum every time I need to start up UDK. 2) I've done that a lot, and know just about all the stuff in the game. I started more than 3 years ago, so I got to see the new stuff little by little, which helps. 3) No experience. 4) I would be more than happy to cut my forum activity solely to moderator duties. I know I argue a lot now, but that's just for argument's sake; I could certainly stand to cut that out. And of course, the only job I've had was at a laser tag place where part of what I did was enforce the rules, so there's that : P EDIT: Forgot to post, I'm EST.

I'd nominate myself, but I doubt I'd get supporters. In that case, Tree, Varun, and Mojo.

Having been a forum Mod for a gaming community Beforehand people need to think long and hard before requesting or accepting nominations, The job is neither glamorous or exciting, what ever call you make will be the wrong one and people will hate you for it And while this forum is small the Role of a forum mod will be time consuming and it will require a real commitment to this community.

I can immediately list a few people off the top of my head who have a real commitment to this community (Varun, Xzien, etc). Like, come on! They created a GL Entertainment Center for heavens' sake!I think they would be willing to give this time, and would nominate them.

Although there are many nominations, it would be easier to know which members are actually interested in taking on the role, and we can go from there. I will Put my Name forward Along with everyone else. *In game i am always active Forums i keep up to date with and post when i feel necessary * Have played for a good amount of time and am able to help with "newb" related queries * have moderated in forums before. * Enforcing rules is obviously something that needs to be done. * I am UK based. In terms of duties what are you looking for the forum mod to do? Because as i see it there are really two roles in the forum Moderation of the posts and the Administration side of the forums IE bots inactive members storage of old posts. http://www.fun-fairs.co.uk/forum/ Not really a reference but i thought i'd include it this is my dads forum that i help run currently helping to sort old topics merge and consolidate posts and remove inactive topics and members, all useful experience

My opinion - No player should be a Moderator. It's a perceived conflict of interest, and will inevitably hit the fan in a horrible way.
Plus, I'm against censorship of any form, and therefore against the concept of moderators in general. They should exist ONLY to eliminate spam posts and anything that is strictly illegal.

Many players are active, this can help stop a lot of the name calling and other rule braking. I have seen many games do this and it worked. Just need to make sure there people who can keep the game and the forums issues they have separate. Locking topics should be the extent of there powers. Any banning should be left to Dan alone. But having players on as advisers to monitor and help people dose work. Just need to make sure there the right ones.

Even with the right person on the job, Guaran-damn-teed, either that moderator will let it go to his head one day and/or that moderator will get beat up left and right with accusations.

I wouldn't mind being a mod here. I'm in the Eastern time zone but on pretty much all day long. I love to help beginners out. I don't have any experience with merging things but I am a fast learner. I have no probs enforcing the rules when necessary no matter who is concerned. I will be fine with whoever Dan thinks best in the end though. Thanks Dan for getting on this for us!

I give 100% backing to Rarek for moderator. He is an extremely good one, as I've had experince with his moderation on other sites, and he is very helpful in regards to questions an responses. Not to mention the fact that I see him online all the time!

I'd be interested in moderating the forum, but due to my "get up and go without thinking" attitude, and my *ahem* bad side I can see why many people would oppose me nominating myself. I do have advanced knowledge of the forum software used here, and I do know a lot about the game. I'm UK based, but my sleeping habits change all the time. I really don't wanna sound arrogant, but hey, sue me.I know I'd never get picked, so here are my nominations: They're both wise, funny, unbiased, active, helpful, inspirational, and well-loved in this community.

I was going to stay quiet, but there are a few things that have been bothering me, that I've decided I'd like to voice... First, although I appreciate Failname setting aside our differences to nominate me, I'm extremely disappointed that the list of nominees hasn't been kept completely non-biased, and thus included every single eligible person nominated, regardless of his personal preference or arbitrary guidelines.
Second, mentioning players banned from the forums is a violation of the ToS, something which should be taken into consideration with more than one of those already on the list being clear rules violations. I believe this goes for players that were banned under another name earlier today and then came back to nominate themselves under their old account name.

Is it really your place to be throwing accusations like that around? Especially when it's quite clear the people in question are not at all related other than through friendship? I'd take your mod hat off, it's not yours yet. And with the jumping to conclusions, it's not a good sign either.
