Post subject:  Research Overview

Me, being the forgetful person I am, often accidentally start multiple research projects at once, and so often my tech isn't discovered as efficiently as I would like. There are two things that would make it a little easier.

First, the research screen should open at your current research tier, rather than at the start of the tree. This way you can see where you're up to.

Secondly, there could be a little progress bar underneath each box, showing level and progress. This is what I mean:

Image

In the picture (representational):
Quantum Disassembly is nearly 1 level complete out of 3 levels.
Zero Point energy is 3 full levels and nearly 4 out of 4 levels complete.
Disruption fields are 1 full level and around a quarter of level 2 out of 3 complete.

Any comments?

Um. I guess this would be useful early on, but later on it would kinda lose it's effectiveness. Unless I'm researching the base I have to scroll along to reach my research (which is another thing I would like fixed - perhaps in conjunction with this.), and I habitually check them all anyway. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only person who does this.

So +1 to this.
+1 to having the research bars reversed.

Sorry didn't see it.

Also, I should note that as of yet, the only tiers I have to scroll are Hull, Defense and Cannons. Before I reset I had to scroll them all, which sucked. I actually had an energy build before I reset... the opposite of what I have now.

+1, this system looks excellent. many people have asked for a flush right approach to the tiers, but i dont think ive ever seen a progress bar or tier marker suggestion. and if there was, it definitly wasnt graphically represented. i love it, and hope dan puts it in.

+1 Absolutely, I only have two tiers left, one being the base research, and I would have LOVED this all along, and even though I really know have two choices, I find myself clicking down long lists of other research accidentally at times, gah, annoying! This would be a very good addition!

I find it very easy to keep track when you have to scroll the bars, and I've currently wasted about 10k research in the wrong thing - I could have quantum devastators now, if I'dve managed to keep track.

Should I add a poll to this?

Thanks. Could it be improved in any way?

The research menu definitely needs a bit of polish. At least placing oldest research first instead of last would be major improvement...
Inventory menu needs much more work IMO!

I suggested both long ago, and many more such suggestions been floating around. I wish they would come true T_T

maybe label the research teirs, like planet structures, defense, energy etc., it took me awhile to remember what was what

Or just including that in the tutorial would be a help

Even though im almost done with everything to be researched I know I would have loved to have something like that when I was starting out. +1 on the idea

Come on people - the more votes, the more likely it is to be implemented.
