Post subject: | {base} Universal Weather |
Bringing back an old topic I made months ago, but with more weather types. These weather types only last 24 hours. Make a game clock stating what weather and time. Solar Winds Warm day as Solar Winds expand over the entire universe. No effect on ships or planets. EMP Fog Swarms of EMP particles seem to weaken visibility of radars and seem to have a drastic effect on defensive modules. Two Effects: -5% Defense, -5% Scan Ionic Storm A storm approaches with heavy Ion beams. Drastic effect on shields and hull! Ships can lose random damage on shields or hull at random times. Formula: (Max Hull * 2) / 6 = Max damage of Ion beams. Planetary Collision Some planets have collided due to extreme gravitational pull. The debris of the collision can make a devastating impact on hull directly. Although rich minerals do come out. Ships can lose random damage on hull, regardless of shields. Formula: (Max Hull * 2) / 4 = Max damage of Ion beams. Mining production increased by 5%. Immense Gravity Immense Gravitational pull slows down all players in the galaxy. Very difficult to attack enemies directly. When attacking, the damage is reduced by 10%. Black Hole Eruption Thousands of black holes are now appearing everywhere in the galaxy! This makes it very difficult to transport shipments from planets to you. Mining and Artifact productions are reduced by 5%. Research remains same. Absolute Zero Nebula A nebula consisting of near Absolute Zero temperatures is coming towards the entire galaxy. It will be insanely cold but Icy planets will have a bonus. All built (not artificial) production structures on Icy planets provide +1 to a random resource. Solar Heat Solar winds are in dangerous conditions and now overheating modules that fire projectiles. Attack of all players is reduced by 5%. Drone Swarm Drones come out of adjacent galaxies and now sabotaging many ships that has a mind of its own. Attack and Defense of all NPCs are reduced by 5%. Energy Shower A shower of energy particles rain down everywhere in this galaxy. The more ships collect, the more energy they have, though it has an effect on shields. Energy of all players is increased by 5%, but -5% shields. Gravitational Quake Immense amount of different gravity types are now colliding with each other, causing mass destruction of ships and NPCs alike. Hull and Shields for both players and NPCs are damaged by 1/2 the total. Max Hull / 2 = Damage of quake (Same with shields) Neural Fog Neural fog encloses around the entire galaxy. This fog enhances everybody's senses. +10% EXP Aphotic Matter Aphotic matter encloses around everything, making it extremely difficult to see anything. +10% cloak of all ships and planets (with cloak), +30% cloak for Aphotic Planets. Relay Storm A storm that strikes after a specific time countdown. When hit with a relay strike, some energy lost from relays is released. 10% of energy lost from relays is recovered. Pulsar Pulse A pulse from a nearby pulsar reaches the entire galaxy in waves. Prepare for waves of damage. Hull loses damage every 6 hours. Formula: Max Hull / 5 = Damage received Time Warp Time warps, allowing faster transportation of shipments, including research. Timer for production reduced by 10 minutes. Chain Reaction Storm Chain reactions are starting to happen with this storm. Do be careful because this storm is notorious for making chain reactions. 1.5x damage you deal, but 1.5x damage you receive. Ionic Clouds These particles seem to enhance defensive modules for some reason. Defense: +5% Whiteout Many white holes are now erupting in many places in the galaxy, radiating immense amount of light and debris. Scan: -5%, Mining/Artifact Production: +5% Energetic Storm Like Energy Shower but more dangerous. Energy is pouring down but Energy Strikes can damage your ship. Energy: +5%, Damage to Modules: 2-3 max times during this storm. Grid Fog A grid encloses the galaxy, enhancing hacking and research. Research Production: +5%, Hacking Success: +5% Artificial Debris Storm Artificially made debris swarm all over the galaxy, some which may be rare artifacts. Artifact Production: +5%, May find a random stray artifact. Null Storm This storm amplifies weaponry stats but can overload them with too much amplification. Attack: +5%, Small chance to damage all modules (Once) Trade Effect Fog This special type of fog acts like a Neural, but for trade purposes. Trading is immensely enhanced between legions. Base Artifact Production: +5% Plasma Clouds (Joshball98) Intense Plasma Clouds surround the galaxy. A perfect opportunity to have your research team gather some plasma Base Research Production: +5% Communications Fog (spyder) A strange fog which affects communications, for both good and bad. Comm Msg: 6 Energy, Scan: -5%, Mineral Tax: -10% ----------- Forecast Station (spyder) A module that predicts the next weather, but not always accurate. Base Module Special Size: 2 Cost: 25M CR, 5000 RP, 1000 EM Effect: Has a 75% chance of correctly predicting the next day's weather. Limit: 1 per base Just bringing back a topic I made before. This should make some differences. If any have balance issues, please state them and put your correction to them. |

I don't know about all the specifics, but something like this could certainly help keep the game interesting. |

+1 on planet collision you should get a bonus amount of minerals too |

+1 very nice idea, random daily uniqueness could only be a good thing. |

Tied in with this could be a new base module - a forecast station, which would give you an outlook of what the weather would be for the next week, so you can plan when to scan and stuff. |

So does each player have it random like the daily or is it gonna be for everyone in the game at the same time. If the later is true then for each ship to have the same effect would kinda be pointless, like u'd have 1000 atk regular then 900 atk with the effect but so would who ever ur facing so what would be the point to just be more energy to kill the person yet take around the same damage. |

Every player has the same weather 2. Every player has a random weather 3. Every Legion has a random weather I'll think of more weather types soon. ![]() |

Post subject: | Re: Universal Weather |
if they are for ships on a single bases you might want it to say your ship has passed threw ..... gaining or inflicting things. legion your legions sector has been permeated with or something. The idea is interesting I wouldn't have anything that gives xp bonuses or energy can be a bit over powered. Fun idea tho. Oh you might want to put npc attacks increases chance of finding a race or some such. |

Nice ideas I like the concept of this. Some may be overpowered but most are really good. It would change gameplay alot. A forcast station would be cool to get maybe a base module? Allows you to predict the next days weather. I vote for Random for each Legion. But I would really like this. Plasma Clouds Intense Plasma Clouds surround the galaxy. A perfect opportunity to have your research team gather some plasma Base Research Production: +5% Just a suggestion to be added ![]() |

Communications Fog A strange fog which affects communications, for both good and bad. Comm messages cost 6 energy, Scan -5%, but the mineral tax is halved due to poor communications |

I agree that the idea would not work if everyone had the same weather, as many of the stats would cancel themselves out. Not true for all the effects, but definitely the one where it direct combat statistics. Two people under exactly the same buff = two people with no buff. |

Nanodrone Release One of the galaxy's largest nanodrone factories have just released a defective batch into space. Every 2 hours, 50% chance to have a random module damaged by 30%, 50% chance to have a random module fully repaired for free, and it's upkeep to be 0 for 1 day. |

Anything that damages modules probably won't fly but hey it's a thought. Shortages such and such mineral or artifact is in short supply the more common an item the more likely that it will be in short supply. |
