Post subject:  Tabbed Planet Buildings Menu

When I'm building on a planet, I hate having to sort through a jumbled list of everything I can build. I'd like to see collapsible tabs of each kind of planet structure: mining, artifact, research, attack, defense, population, and cloak. The tabs will be short enough they don't need to be sortable; just in the order they are now (by technology).

What would happen with multi-production buildings, such as Refining Labs or Sulcation Portals - which section would they appear under? Would it even be possible to make them appear under multiple sections? If so, why don't ship modules already do this? (Ie. Mylarai Plasma Lances should appear under both the Weapons and Hull Module tabs)

If it could be done, Dan would probably already have done it. But +1 from me anyways.

I'm pretty sure he means when you hit the Build New Structure button. This list of available buildings. Not what is already on the planet.

Anyway, I have to say no. Separate tabs for this, separate tabs for that. Eventually you'll have so many tabs, you'll be spending more time finding things than the way they are now.

PS: Keep in mind this is coming from the guy that just wasted 30 Ai and 1.8B cr because I built +12 mining instead of +12 artifact, had to redo it and now will struggle to make upkeep.

see.. tabs would've helped you not make the mistake..

No, chasing a double dose of Focus Factor with a Red Bull would have. There's already WAY too much click click click to get to where you need to be.

I hate to beat a horse, but.... At low ranks (low tech) this would be a complete waste. You have 2 or 3 things in each tab. Now for a cover-all, you're talking about 7 tabs for structures. Let's say you colonize/invade a decent planet. You want some production (1 or more tabs), some defense (another tab), a little attack (another tab), some population (another tab) and finally a little cloak so lowbies don't find it (ANOTHER tab). This doesn't even count filling in holes with artifact structures. Let's make another tab for that... :roll:

The only changes that need made to the current planet structure tab is a little less jumble (pre-sorted by building type) and auto-buy when you're short on minerals.
