Now that we've gotten NPCs on the battle list, how about some on the planet list?
It would be nice to find some planets that have some structures (maybe a way to give out some of the structures that can't be gotten anymore).
Example 1: Crimson Planet Population: 120 (must invade) Type: Volcanic Size: Average Best Resource: Mining: Rich
In place: 2 Phase Cutter Chassis Random low level mining/defense Crimson specific building
Example 2: Drannik Planet Defended by a Drannik Replicator Population 0 since they are extinct (colonize after defending defender, no need to invade) Type: Metallic Size: Large Best Resource: Research: Rich
In place: M.O.T.H.E.R. (abandoned but you can get the benefit when you colonize) Random low level research Drannik specific building

I believe this idea has been mentioned before. I think that A. It would provide fun 'Flavor' to the game B. Be difficult to implement

However, I'd like to ask HOW to implement this idea. We have the NPC battle slots, right? Then how can we implement this planet slot?
Also, how do we make it so that this won't be abused? A new NPC planet every 100 hours or something?
Finally, there should be an option to eithr colonize / invade and claim it as your own, OR "scoop up" the artifact / rare planet building and drop it on one of your already owned planets. That way, we have two reward choices- new planets or get rare planet buildings to use.
Thoughts?

I thought it would be something with a very small chance of being found from scanning or if someone shares them with you. In the example of the Drannik planet, the Drannik ship would be defending the planet like any player does. No need to have it in a separate slot. Personally, I think adding a "scoop up artifacts" would probably be a lot more coding. I'm trying to work it in the realm of what is available now. Now, we can't move artifacts once they are placed. I would say until that changes for our own planets, it shouldn't be changed for NPC planets. I have some more ideas of when things advance. One could find planets that have populations that give extra help (so an average planet produces more because of the natives) but at the same time, they could revolt. Revolt would throw you off the planet and you could lose the buildings you put on it. You could re-invade and get everything back. Probably too much programming...

Also Agree. This also allows for lots more missions on planets related to those organizations. A good way to implement this is to have a new planet sub-catagory: Natives. *Normal planets have 'none' in this category. Newly descovered planets that have one have to be invaded first. *Planets that have natives gain alterations to the planet's resources and defences. For example if 'Rogue Science League' is mentioned, the research availability is 1 higher but attack of the planet is 5% lower. *Some buildings would already be on the planet based on the organization and their ships. In the same example, research based buildings and higher-defense buildings would be on the planet. Though I dissagree that artifact buildings would be used. (with the exeption of artifact buildings from that organization) *As from Odragon's idea, they would be defended by an NPC of that organization. (contributing the bulk of the planet's defenses, including cloak if the NPC has it) *After you successfully invade the planet, The planet keeps the bonuses and penalties of the 'natives'.

To elaborate on my idea for "scooping"...
Once you kill the NPC guarding the planet, and successfully invade it, you are presented with two simple choices.
"Victory! You have conquered the planet and destroyed all significant military forces. You approach the now defenseless planet and your scanner detects some unique artifacts present on the planet. However, the artifact readings are gradually diminishing, and the longer you wait, the more difficult it gets to locate these artifacts. You are presented with the opporunity to add a new planet to your empire, or retrieve the unique artifacts which will allow enemy reinforcements to arrive and defend the planet under attack."
Two buttons appear.
"Claim Planet" "Claim Artifacts"
As for the artifacts, they could be high level artifacts like Terraformers, Expanders, Planet Flux, rare / past special event building artifacts (Crimson buildings, MOTHERS, etc) or something along these lines.
