Dan,

Since you change the Halycon trap and such. Can you change the PVP tab to have ship closer to your rank? Its easy to get the red badges now. No need to for the 200+ above you to sandbag you for red badges.

yeah i'd like to see the 40% spread drop to say 20-25% gap that's still a significant margin

Not for the top handful of players that already only have 6 people they can badge.

Unless something works for EVERYONE it's a -1 in my book.

I get disabled regularly by people 170+ ranks higher than I am. I am only rank 312.

That is a full 150% of my rank. Just a bit off if you ask me, there is nothing that you can against that. Nothing at all.

I figured this is the response I would get I should have gone further in my response. Now I'm no expert in coding so I don't have a clue how difficult something may be to do but is it possible to keep the 40% gap to receive a badge but only have a 25% gap show up on the battletab unless for example a rank 1100 player can only see 4 people due to rank the system then allows it to produce people outside of the 25% range and as far as 40%?

lol huluk dont let darth get to you i think he gives everything -1 out of pure habit but i agree im not at that rank yet but to be put up agesnt enemys that cant even get badges from you is just pointless

Only ideas that aren't beneficial to everyone, neo... ;) I've been around here long enough to see plenty of people propose ideas that suit a particular rank range or particular playing style. One of the biggest complaints you'll see is: "Well that's not fair." What's fair in eliminating 2 of the 6 people that Frail and Psicore COULD badge due to rank? Keep in mind they can't badge each other, they're in the same legion, and one of those they CAN badge is Dan's ship...

I regularly get disabled by people 250 ranks over me. Do I take it personal? No. Does it tick me off? No. I take it as something to be proud of. Then I sometimes badge them back. Nobody at my own rank ever attacks me. :roll:

It could be hard coded so that you have to have at least 25 different players on the list fo ryour battle tab cycle.

If you have more than 25 possible, then it gets reduced to 25%. I am sick and tired of being hit by people that are like I said 150% of my rank. It isnt even sporting.

I aggree with Darth, albeit for different reasons. The 40% rank range is just fine the way it is, it's your fault for not building a stronger ship. As it stands now, I'm never in short supply of goliaths and titans to kill that are in the mid 250s range, an easy kill for my massive SD, and that's w/o the full potential of the 40% rank range. I never get a ship under rank 200 on my BT even though 40% of my current rank of 293 will allow me to see down to rank 176. Even with a range of 25%, I'd still see down to rank 220, which is close to the lowest I'm seeing already, and plenty low enough to still run into a lot of Goliaths and the occasional Titan. The game is already balanced just find the way it is. If you pour a lot of rank points into energy, then your going to rank fast but have a weak ship for your rank and suffer the consequences of it accordingly. Likewise, I dare say I've got the toughest ship in my rank range, but low energy, and I live with the consequences of choosing this build. Bottom line, if you don't like geting farmed, build a tougher ship.

There is a much bigger difference in strength of ships the higher you go.

You could be rank 30 and give a rank 60 a run for their money.

You could be rank 300 and have no chance against a rank 600.


Dont give me the build a stronger ship bull, there is no way to have the resources or the research to compete.

Arti/hr wont be high enough for the prisoners, helmsman, brackets, x-cells, etc.
Res/hr wont be high enough to have the best modules researched.
Min/hr wont be high enough to have the best modules equipped even if they were researched.

Add to that the 1500 rank points you are missing just from levels, and you start to see the issue that I find troubling. If there were truly a defense to this, it wouldnt be a problem... there is none though. NONE

darth answer me this then whats the point in even haveing players that you cant even earn a badge from on your battle tab its a waste of space that could be took by someone you could in fact gain something from

Unless they are in a legion you have a NAP with, you can get a badge from anyone on your BT. You can even badge NAPs but to do so breaks the NAP. Those uber-high rank players actually only have a handful of people even show on their BT. Several of them don't even get a full 10 enemies.

I would run back at someone 200 levels higher than me. It just takes a lot of energy to do it. Now if I want to take planets, I can't use halycons. I have to do no actions for 24 hours. That still doesn't stop attacks. Cloak. Pay the funds out of the rear to still get hit. But don't you want a challenge? Nope. Attacking people your level that hard to try to do? With the current situation. Strength of ship doesn't mean jack Silent. You offline. Someone with energy and willing to spend energy to disable you will do it. Only reason Darth is objecting is probably not enough people around his level to fight with. It was a suggestion. If the game was balanced, Dan would not have to tweak traps and artifacts.

1--There's plenty of people in the 300-600 range for me to tangle with. (sadly when they show on my BT they are 3/5/5 but that's another discussion)

2--The reason I object has already been explained. It would UNFAIRLY disadvantage the players who DO NOT have a plethora of targets as it stands now.

Already at 494, I see a lot of the same names over and over on my BT. And I'm not the only one. Tweak my scan and they are a different set. I can only imagine the issues they have at the top end of the ranks. It literally IS the SAME handful of people they see, and you want to cut that down more? Changing the badge range from 40% to 25% is nearly the same as cutting the number of potential targets in half. If you only see 100 people at 40%, you're going to end up with 62 people at 25%. How long until you get bored with those people?

Sry Storm, but gotta -1 this too. I think the 40% spread is fairly decent. And while it is costly, I make it a point to return all badge attacks too. The thing I find more ironic is that every time I increase my cloak, I get random badged hit more. :lol: :lol:

Why I fly damn near naked, I get left alone for weeks... is it just me or anyone else experience that too?

ok after seeing this again ive realized what this all boils down to.
Does dan look to make the loyal players whos been with the game for the longest time and help pay the bills, or does he ake the game easyer for the new blood to get into the game and not be scared away by all the older players who will leap at the chance to have new blood to beat the day lights out of.

I say stop whining and build a better ship. I dont have a problem taking people 200 lvls above me. most of the time i can do it without busting my shields

I sorta support making a smaller rank spread ... esp. at small-medium ranks like under 300 there are lots of targets. For higher ranks, well the top 50 players by rank should always be eligible I suggested that before to give more btab variety to them (esp. at the very top ranks).

I would have instead of rank said down to -25% of your own *power* (att+def I think) but then a person can manipulate their power when offline by taking off modules.
