bases are not NCP's you shouldn't be able to see the bases stats like the shield, hull, defense, attack in their calculated form...

changing this will help bases a bit because attacking players will have to gamble as to weather they think your base is too tough before they lock on to it and have actuality had to fight it...

some may argue that it not going ot help, but my logic on how it helps is based on this some legions skip hard bases to go find easier ones, and by not knowing off hand if the base is tough or not they will have to take a gable which will mean some times they waste their badges engaging something they can't kill saving some poor small weaker base from a possible attacker..

also while this is being changed i recommend implementing a cloaking aspect to the bases that works smiler to ships..

on a ship you can't see the mods they have installed if there other players cloak is high enough which is how basses should hide their mods which a smart player could use to get a rough approximation of the stats...

because bases currently have no cloak factor i am not sure if they have a critical hit chance, as such if they don't one should be added to help increase the damage inflicted...

i would like to hear some thoughts on this..

Bases don't need help, especially not when you get to the level 5+ range. Not being able to see stats? I'm a little confused what exactly you mean because on every battle aspect in the game (PvP, PvE, even the current base setup) you can see attack and defense (either normally or with a probe). You can't see hull and shield of a ship, but not being able to see would just be a pointless hurdle for bases. As for cloak, nobody really cares what modules they have on since we can see the stats.

Bases -are- closer to NPCs than they are player ships. It's kind of a combination between a player ship and an NPC. But, when battling one, it's purely like an NPC to the attackers.
