Explorer is not a profession open to Vygoids. I suspect that is the point...

maybe we should have a mission (repeatable once for each race) that gives an artifact (a very large book of some sort) that, when used, will allow you to unlock all professions of a race of your choice

...but if you switch to a profession that wasn't an initial profession for that race, you still get full racial bonus, but only get ½ the bonus for the profession...
