Since we're (hopefully) going to see some renewed interest in PVP soon, here's a medal idea that's been bouncing around in my head for awhile...

-------
Medal: Best Served Cold

How to Obtain: Disable 500 enemy players who have hacked, disabled, or raided you within the last 12 hours. Cannot disable the same enemy ship for credit-toward-medal more than once every 72 hours.*

Reward: 30 Medal Points; unlocks title "the Vindicator;" adds a passive +5% to attack while attacking the most recent player appearing on your battle log.
-------

There are a lot of players who seem afraid to hit anybody back with anything other than an angry comm -- perhaps a shot at earning the points, title, and modest passive would encourage a bit more retaliation?

*down from initial 1 week cooldown, as per Kara Thrace's suggestion.

But I think my comms are quite funny. Otherwise +1, it would increase interest in PVP hopefully

I think if you get a badge from them, it should count towards the medal.

You know... It's a small galaxy and 7 days is prolly too long a cooldown. That being said, I don't like the idea of "footballing" badges back and forth for the medal, either... I think a more reasonable amount of time would be 48-72 hours. Will wait to see what other people say before changing the op first, though...

I think every 72 hours would be fine. Long enough for a person to fall of your logs, not so long that it's silly.

And PVP is anything but silly.

I think your timeframe is probably the best compromise between my initial idea (silly long) and Christian's idea (too easy to football). Changing initial post to represent this.
