There was an idea recently to "split the galaxy into sectors". The person who wrote the topic probably had the idea of of a visible map and you pick and choose the sector you want to go to. Obviously this would take up a lot of time and programming.
Here is how you simplify it. On the Battle Tab, you see a button that says Sectors. This button will bring up a page that list a number of galactic sectors. Click one of these sectors and it will triple the chances you find a native ship and other players who are also in the sector. This is all the sectors will do. You will stay in this sector for 24 hours. You must wait 120 hours before you can go back after your 24 hours are up. So you can only go into a sector again after 5 days have gone by. This will reduce the chances of people abusing the system.
When you are thrown out, you don't go into another race occupied sector. You go into the last "Legion Sector" that you were in previously. A Legion Sector is where players can find planets and legion bases. Dan can figure out how many Legion Sectors to make.

-1, sounds confusing and unnecessary, no offense.

Good idea, needs refinement.
Simply, you "drift" into a different sector each day. By being in a sector: Faction NPCs 10-20% more likely to show up. More likely to find players in same sector. Sector "weather" (as suggested before about galactic weather, many times).
You can "drift" into legion sectors (small legion based stat bonuses), Hostile sectors (NPC chances), and neutral sectors (no difference). Simple "virtual dice roll" for everyone every 24 hours.

Alright, I guess I get it now, but it can't be all beneficial. There should be some disadvantages imo.

Let's keep it as simple as possible for now. No advantages or disadvantages, just an increased possibility of finding ships native to the sector, along with players in the same sector. But we can find the most effective way to keep people from abusing this system. "Drifting" doesn't sound like a good idea.

As "simple" as the original idea....
(1) It would require another identifier tag for every ship in the galaxy, to identify which "sector" that particular ship is in. This would be for the sake of "finding other players in the same sector."
(2) A complete revamp of the NPC system might be required. Either a whole mess of coding to alter the chances of each specific NPC as you change sectors, or complete sets with their own separate spawnrates for each sector. (CrimHawk1, Crimhawk2, CrimHawk3, etc)
(3) The game would be required to track the last 10 sectors you entered on a rolling basis. Not just the last 5 "activity" sectors (to prevent entering the same one repeatedly) but also the "common room" sector in between each.
Pretty much a serious rebuild of a couple MAJOR portions of the game... PvP and NPC

I have taken a basic programming class, and I can assure you that this would not be much to change. All what Dan has to do is add another button on the Battle page, have it bring up a list. Each sector is it's own button. All that will happen is an increase of native NPC's. And then there would be a small chunk of section added to say which NPC's have to be increased. For now I am going to revoke the PvP part of my idea. Dan is a professional programmer, so this would take him no more than an hour, and that is if he takes his time with it.
