This I think has been suggested before but to bring it back to light, scanning for anomalies both in BT and planet scanning.

The idea is to give a bonus to having a high scan on your ship a lot as well as rewarding planet scanning aside from gaining planets. These would give the option to explore or investigate similar to additions to planets.

On the battle tab anomalies would be like enemy ships on their only stat would be cloak which would be extremely high. When investigating it would pit your scan vs the cloak over 5 separate "scans" (works similar to battles) while having an "hp" meter similar to NPC's. After 5 scans the amount of hp you reduced would yield different random things. Most would probably end up being resource/artifact/research point crates (50-200). Others could be common artifacts (probes, traps, small ship temp boosts like crystal foci)
Rarely if you do very high scanning you could find rare NPC ships/bosses.

As for planet scans these would be things you would have to analyze and would provide temporary bonuses or if you fail temporary problems.
For instance if you find a black hole and try to investigate, you could read the data imprinted on its event horizon giving you the anomaly readings artifact (4 hours of research) or you could get damaged by its gravitational pull dealing 25% of hull and shield worth of damage.

Another could be finding an inhabited asteroid belt which would give you +5% to all resource production for 2 days if analyzed correctly and create an insurgency on one of your planets if you fail.

i suggested something like this although it was for the ability to do it through bases. Though that would be a legion wide bonus

This also works. And I understand that all together that is a relatively large update. I think we can all agree this is something we would be willing to wait on such an update so long as we know it is in the works.
If anyone can add things you find as well as success rewards and failure debuffs or anything between the two I'm sure it could only help the idea gain ground.

A nice way to balance it out would be to require blue badges for scanning, just like base attacks. And like the base attacks you would have to explore the anomoly with some degree of success to gain something, or you might be able to find a NPC base or whatever else.

THAT I would definantly be willing to wait for.
