I used to play this game called Realm of Empires, and what I really liked about it, was that it had new realms constantly opening. It was good if you joined the game late and gave you a real chance of being in with the best players in the game. I was thinking maybe implement this in GL? I know it would take heaps of time on Dan's part, but I think it would be good for a few of us 'cellar dwellers' to get up amongst the best players. I have a few ideas but would be pointless typing them up if people hate the basic principle. What does everyone else think? |

while it sounds appealing atfirst I've played games like that and find that it takes away from the experience having everybody be about the same rank(who would seriously join to start as a rank one among rank 1000s sorry man gotta drop the minus 1 |

the good thing about what we have right now is that new players are comming in to give this game new blood. If it was divided into different galaxy then one galaxy will lose most of its members and it will just simply die.. I visited my old kingdom of camelot server and its dead.. no on playing the server anymore. and most of the players who bought items for their game just wasted their money on a server that died. We dont want that happening do we?? |

there's still always a chance Dan might make a separate "galaxy" (game server and database) for google+ |

He could do 1 new one. KoC and TKO and all thoses games had the basic problem of opening servers about 1 every two weeks. If a new server was opened, i would play both. ONLY 1 though... |

ONLY 1 though... If dan opens a new server and this one dies he will lose a lot of players. That's how other games lost players. The best thing about gl is that there no limit on the number of player that can play this server. The only thing that dan needs to do is to add more planets. I've been playing this game for more than a year now and the community is growing. We have lost some players but then new ones have replaced them. |

mhmm opening new servers is a bad idea for all the above reasons im playing another game and the server i play on is dying because they open a new server every 3 months and everyone just goes there because they cant contest with current players which is not an issue in GL |

I used to play a game called Starfleet Commander that did the same thing, it died out within about a month of a new universe(galaxy for GL) being made. Definitely don't want to see that happen to GL -1 |

The above reasons, and also because base combat gives a strong incentive for players to stay in the same legion. |

Three problems I see: 1) Time - If he spends time making a new server, he can't continue to improve this great game. 2) Loss of players - No new players = boring = decline = galaxy dead and wasted money. 3) Cost - IF he went bust, the whole game would be ruined. -1. |

Why would it take time to make a new server? Its simply setting up a database. Why would the game lose player? what about the cost? Please explain your reasoning. |

The reason why this server is still alive after almost 2 years is because even if old players quit the new players are still added to this server. We can take their planet and the game keeps growing. If there are mutiple servers new players will not come in and old servers will just die and ppl will be less inclined to invest real money if they are not sure that their investment will stay for the long haul. The way this game is set up dan can just add new planets and everyone contributing to a single server. Unlike other games that a player needs a slot to occupy. This game can accommodate lots of playes sine we don't need a map. As new players come in dan just adds new planets. Old players planet also get recycled. Finding a planet with x 15 is a posibility. And with the current set up that dan has its very easy to take an inactive players planet. |

To prevent the new blood situation. and perhaps make the Legion aspect more dynamic.... make several galaxies. and as you get to say rank 200-300 you are given the option to move on to the large galaxy (rank 301 you would be automatically sent there) so as not to have rank 1000+'s taking rank 200's planets. and another galaxy at like rank 500-600+ (forced here at rank 601) it would allow the low ranks time to improve themselves. and it would allow you to construct legions with nearly the same levels. as far as bases go as to not make them impossible for lower ranks. make a rank restriction for them. this would also rotate the leaders in lower legions(due to players ranking up) so you can get people who are more eligible to be leaders as they have a resume so to speak. |

Why make it complicated when the system in place right now is a good one. Lower ranked players can have help from the higher ranked players. A lot of planets are getting added. Soon there would be 3 billion planets out in our galaxy. When old players retire new players come in. The lower ranked players are safe since there is a limit on who high ranking players see in the battle tab. If you want to rank up fast you can do it. If you want to do it slow you can do it too. The system in place assures that if you buy something with gp to upgrade your ship your gp investment will not go to waste because a new server is being set up. It would be sad to see if this becomes like evony and KOC where new servers are made every week and the money spent goes away with every server that dies. |

It's a facebook game. it SHOULDN'T be complicated. If you want a complicated online game, play WoW or MW3 or something. |
