Post subject:  Adjustment to raiding

I am starting to think that raiding should be adjust slightly. Currently it is based off of ships crew. Totally understandable but i dont think it captures the entire picture. Ships have an huge range in size as well as crew. The same is true with cargo capacity. Since the cargo holds are what we are actually raiding then perhaps raiding success should be a function of cargo space and crew size. In other words Jimmy might only have 200 crew and a cargo hold of 100. Easy math says he has 2 crew per cargo space. Kendra could have 2000 crew and a cargo hold of 30000. Sure she would have an order of magnitude more crew than Jimmy but she would be stretched even thinner to guard it all in a raid (only 1.5 officers per space). Doesnt this make more sense? Decks could be tossed in there too.

As I see it now, the high rankers typically have no worries about ever being raided because they have such a large crew. Their ships are so massive and cargo holds so vast i really dont see how they should be so successful at defending them all. Heck even captain Picard would always land a successful team on the giant Borg vessels.

In hacking the smaller ship has the advantage and will always hack for more from a larger ship than the larger could get in return. I dont understand this but i guess it is nice for the little guys so I dont complain. How about we make the same advantage apply towards raiding? It would really make people think about their ship design alot more as well as help the little guys protect their smaller resources.

we're not raiding the cargo holds... that was ages ago when it was possible to lose individual artifacts... now we just raid the raw mineral and artifact points which are stored in a separate space, waiting for the receiving department to sort through the stuff and label everything and move it to cargo

again... the points are in the receiving bay... not in the space designated as "cargo"

I agree with the artifact, but wouldn't it be the opposite for hacking due to data space (not just amount)?

oh come on now, separate space. Yes you are right it is not actually the artifacts anymore but i think you understand the point.

besides... assuming nobody is on the bridge anymore during a raid....

it's your crew vs their crew in the receiving bay.... so you see it still comes down to a direct relation of crew vs crew

now personally, i'd have at least half my crew gathered around the current points and the other half scattered through the rest of the receiving bay...
