We have the dark smuggler chassis. its pretty cool, even though everyone is destined to look the same in the endgame.
what i would like to propose is a new chassis that does a small version of the effect of the ship it mimics. Much like a previous suggestion about this, i propose players have the option to upgrade their dark smuggler chassis (much like we upgrade our zortah interface jacks) into a new 'fluid' chassis sort of like the terminator from t2.
Working much like the universal service terminal, players will have the option to 'learn' chassis by purchasing for complex tech or energy. However, once learned, the chassis would be permanently available. For example, if a player 'learns' to be scruuge, then they would always have the ability to switch to scruuge any time after theyve learned it, even if its mid july. This could also be a reward at the end of mission chains to learn NPC chassis builds.
The reason i'm suggesting this is so that we do not look the same at the endgame. Everyone will have the dark smuggler chassis in the future, and thats rather disappointing to me. Also, i'm not suggesting we look like the default ships for player oriented chassis. players that mimic other player's ships will look different. for example, the dark smuggler chassis looks to be a rather large ship. This would translate to say a konqul flagship or inergon council ship. in other words, a pimped out version of the player's ships we have now.
Also, i propose we have small bonuses applied to these upgraded forms of chassis. i'm not sure what the dark smuggler chassis gives, but perhaps we can have a similar bonus applied for the other races that relates to what they are known for.
and i know this personalization of ship avatars has been rehashed over and over again, but i really want to see some form of personalization in the game, and i feel like this is the absolutely simplest way to do it. no pieces moving around, no damage gifs applied to ships (although i feel like dan will be able to do this soon enough after making flux storms on planets and such), no different colors for hulls or shields, etc. just a simple pre-programmed option to have different types of ships available at our fingertips. i honestly could care less if there was a bonus applied to this module at all, as long as it let us choose a ship chassis.
Also, to prevent players from switching constantly if bonuses are included, then there can be a 12 hour melding timer where the chassis needs to reconfigure itself and therefore your ship is left in its original form recieving no bonus from this module at all.
