Dan,

I would like to see the 12 hour abandon timer for planets removed. There is no practical sense to keeping a 12 hour timer. Deciding to abandon several planets at once has no significance to the game, because there is a 12-hour alert timer. This means that even if I could abandon ten good planets at once intending to alert them, it would take five days to alert them all, during which time I'm not getting production on them, and they are undefended. Far better to hold onto the ones I can't yet alert.

It also does not prevent someone from farming planet scans, because it is not OWNERSHIP of a planet that takes up a planet slot, but simply it's presence in your scans. Thus, this kind of farming is already limited by the time it takes to build up a requisite number of star chart purgers.

The only thing the abandon timer does at this point, is prevent someone who wants to get rid of a few crummy planets they picked up along the way in the game from doing so with any reasonable speed. The game is also not impacted negatively if I abandon ten crummy planets all at once as opposed to over five days.

Finally, abandoning costs GP. It is already inherently limited by the rarity of free GP, and the financial cost of buying it.

Yeah I can't see a reason either not to allow it since it costs GP.
