Can we make the player kills stat only increase when the victim in within badging range (NOT badge illegible, if you see the difference). I'm aware that this would be hard to apply retroactively, but it would help prevent farming low ranks for stats, and give a more accurate idea of how skilled a player is combat wise, and give more value to combat reputation. |

Said it before and I'll say it again. Just change the Combat Reputation references in the following quote to Kill Count.... And take note that I refer to farming off your battle tab, not just "low ranks" [quote=Darth Flagitious]My thought is that it does nothing to make Combat Reputation anything other than a statement of how well you farm kills. Combat rep to me is a completely meaningless status symbol. It provides no bonus, no penalty and has no bearing whatsoever on how good a ship you have or how well you PvP. Give me 10 null fuses and a stock of trap probes and I can get 25-30 red badges off my battle tab with 0 retaliation. Would that make me a good PvPer? No. It just means I caught 25-30 people weaker than me with minimal traps when they were offline. A good PvPer is someone that can take out someone of comparable strength while they are online and trapping which takes a lot more energy, speed and skill, or someone that can hold off 2 or 3 comparable or stronger players during an attack and still fight back. A truly good PvP player won't have enormous kill numbers. Those go to farmers.[/quote] Personally, I couldn't care less if Dan took the whole concept out of the game. |

yea both make sense but ya see i only hunt player above me but sometimes when i have no choice but to disable a lower rank i feel bad. but a good 85% of my kills are from higher ranks. if i farmed low levels all day i wouldnt brag about beeing a good pvper, although atm im adjusting my ship atm so my pvp is not so good. |
