There should be an option for leaders to allow officers to make announcements. They have the ability to give officers basically every other power of a leader without being a leader. why not this one?

As long as it's a second announcement (/b maybe) I'm all for it. Of course, Leaders would also need to be able to change it.

If officers were granted the exact same powers as leaders then there would be no point having officers.
Maybe have multiple announcements.

I am not saying give all the powers. Just this one extra. Besides changing the rules on the base, promoting/demoting, base construction and announcements I have the same power as a leader. base construction is optional, the others are not.

As for multiple announcements. My issue is that my leaders are some what absent and I am left to be an impotent officer who has to organize the legion without the use of announcements. It would be a lot easier for me if I could just send a message to everyone, every once in awhile rather than hoping to get their attention using the comms.

If your leaders are somewhat absent then you should tell them to get a couple more people as leaders that way there won't be an absense of leaders. :?

More leaders isn't necessarily a solution many times. Most of the well run legions get by with just a couple leaders and a handful of officers. Those officers are often looked to for accepting/rejecting applications, base battle coordination and general day to day guidance of the less experienced. Are they deserving of a Leader position where they would have promotion/demotion power as well? Maybe, maybe not. But how many times have people run into problems with coup d'etats? Just look at the "Founder" thread... Simply adding a secondary announcement that officers can set gives them a communication tool that is by and large a necessity for them to do their job well, without giving them so much "power" that problems could arise.

It would take too long for them to make a decision. They all have to agree and if that means waiting weeks for the ill one to get better than so be it.

Now back to the topic. I want to make announcements.

My point was that if your leaders aren't already there to help you then you need to rearrange things so that they aren't 'some what absent'.
You said that you are left to organize things. If you are doing more than the leaders then why are they the leaders and you are the impotent officer?
I have no problem with this announcement suggestion. I like it, it makes sense. I just think that in legions where the officers do more than the leaders (as is the vibe I got from your post) then this suggestion is coming from a single legion problem.
Leaders are there to lead, officers are there to assist. If the officer is leading more than the leader... well...

Because they built the base to level 6 in a week and put in real money and maintain it, numbers pretty much pays for the upkeep alone. That is why they are leaders. They also solo bases every once in awhile and solo many npcs or do excessive amounts of damage to them. They are there, but not always.

As for me becoming a leader, well as I said it would take too long for all three to make a decision since one is ill and has been for awhile.

This is me being resourceful and trying to get the game to work for me and it benefits other legions as well.

a good idea ! allowing officers to do this will help player activity levels and also give the officers a feeling of being more important to the legion than they are now

officer announcements should be subject to editing by the leaders(s)

Yes, that I also agree with.

Every legion has different structures that work for them. The Dysonians have two leaders like you, and they are #1. my legion has 4 leaders and we easily reach agreements on different things. This is because we all know everyone's strengths. I'm better at negotiating with other legions than the others, but Blake is our main trader. Promitheus is great at pumbling people who get in our faces and Tankface is our main npc hitter. We all have our strengths and we respect it. Depending on what situation we have, the person who the situation is tailored to says what they think. The others offer suggestions or back them up.
You are thinking about straight up debates like this where we go back and forth and nothing gets accomplished. But say you were promoted to leader, the best course of action is for each leader to know who is good at what. That way, you avoid drawn out decisions.
And in the case of someone being sick, that's why it pays off to know each other. If you don't know how other leaders will react, then you won't reach anywhere.

That's my speech on leadership structure. :P

We have 3 and I know what the are good at. I even posted it in my recruiting thread, which is my specialty..despite it being of the leaders occupation.

Now as for as leaders being able to edit, they can write their own over the officer's. I don't think there needs to be extra code for that. If they don't like officers abusing it remove the privilege.

Combine both and allow edits and privilege removal.

how about an announcement that only leaders/officers can see, and an announcement for all, also use the secondary announcement idea here, when using (/a) or (/b) it will signify weather it was by a leader or officer at the head of the announcement..

two words: Officer chat.

If you can't get their attention write on their comm. There are far fewer officers that don't pay attention for this to really be necessary.

ship comms cost energy and the ability to post a "single announcement" for all leaders/officers is needed as well as letting officers make an announcement even if its a secondary one

and officer chat gets lost in high chatting legions like mine. sometimes after just 2 or 3 hours its not even in the archive anymore, has nothing to do with officers that don't pay attention, its about people sleep and are not able to get the communication. WE NEED IT BAD and im sure others do to.

5 energy to spend on one officer is really not a big deal imo and that is only in case of emergency. You can see officer chat without the clutter of the rest of the legion, so unless your officers are having a long discussion that takes up days worth of space, they will be able to read everything for the last two days. If you are posting in the legion comm and need the officer to be able to read it post it in the officer chat or send them a PM on facebook.

It just seems unnecessary and I rather have a very simple change, because those are the ones that get implemented. You are asking for way more than just being able to make announcements.

i would usually agree, but, im not talking about a single officer for 5 energy .
and there is more than enough space for the code below the other announcement and the comm is a rather narrow section of the game also , so its not as much of a problem as you may think for the DEV's (lol, really tho - i am usually one that shoots this kinda thing down for its complexity for the developers to design, but i dont see this as that bad)
