Dan please restore the CM to what it once was.

I know I will get grief for this, but the CM was a good deterrence for those of us warding off the higher guys. If some one 300 ranks on me got me I would just blow their NI's RSL's and Shockpulsers off. Yeah it was dirty but it was the only way to really get back at them. Now, between the CM's not working the same and all the drops that they get long before mid to low ranks, there is no real effective weapon anymore. I am starting to think only the high ranks get catered too and everyone is forgetting about those who are not at the top.

Us high ranks are thinking that its you low ranks that are getting everything. For the high ranks all the arti's you listed there are a dime a dozen. You guys get to see all sorts of NPC boss and elite types. Where as we get very few. Giving us back the queen and the fab plant is a small step but still with them most high ranks can only see 8 alert NPC's. And most of them are Extremely Rare. You guys also get to see any new NPC's that he comes out with for lower ranks that we never got to see. This is just one example I also have no missions to do just the repeatable ones now. Which granted even when he comes out with a new one we finish it as soon as we get it. I would just like to see new content coming out for us at the top as well instead of waiting till the norm of the players are our rank and then we miss out again.

To be honest, I think you're missing the point. The main objective is not to have flame wars, it's to make an interesting game. Revenge can be a good thing in PVP, keeps the game healthy, but the idea is to speed up YOUR progress, not slow someone else's. If someone could be completely immobilized, the number of players would be much lower, it's a great game the way it is now.
Respectfully, -1 to this. It was an improvement to our game.

I an most certainly NOT a high rank. My view is that the CM functions perfectly well, if not better now.
For example, someone 150 ranks above you disabled you.
Before: You CM them to remove the buffs, accidentally remove a RSL, they alert you and you get farmed for days.
Now: You CM them, and remove replaceable things - they don't get as annoyed, and usually won't retaliate.
CMs are tools to GIVE LOW RANKS A CHANCE AGAINST HIGHER RANKS. A fully buffed rank 250 has a chance against a Unbuffed/debuffed rank 350 (from experience). They are a PvP TOOL, not a cheap retaliation. They help you disable others, rather than just act as annoyances, inhibiting people from non-PvP actions.

That was the deterrence, if you didn't want it removed then you left people alone. I also was very selective on when I would use an RSL or NI and made sure I didn't have any one pissed off at me before using them. I think it is a proper price to pay for PVPing, since it is rare then you can not just go around beating on others as you like then swap over to NPC'ing (for those with large enough energy bars) and do as you please with out consequence. At ranks 200-300 it might be even, At rank 500+ I am finding them not really leveling the playing field all that much. Ship vs Ship I do not compare to a lot of those whose battle tabs I am showing up on now. Nor do those who are on my tab.

So it is easier for you on the high end with those energy bars than those who are following.

I'm going with the trend here... Wiping a Neural, RSL and Shockpulse was motivation for a zeroing. A guy did it to me FROM THE BT with no follow up and promptly got zeroed out by our legion. Why? Apparently because I disabled him ONCE, 2 weeks earlier after he hacked me. Not a very smart move on his part (and he was higher than me too). If a higher rank is hassling someone, chances are, there's a reason for it. The most effective thing for fending off higher rank players is having a good ship and a good plan for a strike. Keep an eye on them and catch them offline, then hit them back. Zero if necessary. But using an old school CM vs XP buffs and Shocks was, in my book, a hand written invitation to get hassled MORE, not a deterrent.
And by the way, at 604, I still consider myself "midranked." I don't have a monster energy bar, I have tons of missions that need done, there's plenty of NPC's for me to kill, and plenty of red badges to collect. But I do have a well built ship. At least from what some of the 800-950's have said when they badge me. And yes, I go right back at them when I have the energy to do it. Does it take a lot of energy? Sure, but it gets their attention and shows that this mid sized ship is better off just getting bumped.

Debuffing the shockwave pulse and the rsl implant from the cm is the best thing that dan made for an adjustment of the cm, CM now only removes pvp related buffs.
Of btw don't think that being high ranked is a prestege, its actually a bad thing right now since we miss out on a lot of npc alerts that's not available anymore.

make using a containment missle a non-targetable attack...in other words, when the alert pops up on your screen that someone used a cm against you, there is no link to target them back like you would if they used a debuff ....perhaps this would add a little more usefulness

So it is easier for you on the high end with those energy bars than those who are following. I don't know I would rather have a bunch of missions on my list that need done. At And maybe more missions that unlock at even higher ranks. Gives me something to work for. Maybe Dan should make missions that cost several thousand energy for use. That way it will take a while. And make some big mission chains for us. I have noticed a few new ones that came out with a good chain and I LOVE the NPC unlocking ones. This gives us the most reason to play. Now getting a new mission that calls for 300 arti's is easy to do and, to me at least, isn't as fun to do as trying to get the arti's you need together first. You are looking at it wrong. Its not a bad thing to have a lot to do in the game its a good thing. At least that is how I look at it.

I think Obscura is just looking for an excuse to piss someone off. The containment missile works just fine now and everyone except you likes it the way it is now. CMing someone isn't how you get them back. You want to get someone back? You zero them out. If their legion comes after them, make yourself a pain in the ass to kill. The CM is fine.

Say your npc hunting with a lot of buffs on your ship. Someone c missiles you, and you have to rebuff all over again. Thankfully you didn't lose the shockpulse and the NI, but it can still be an annoyance. After rebuffing, you get c missiled again. Now it's really getting annoying. -1

An excellent way to piss someone off and get yourself alerted and zeroed. And c missiling is NOT the only way to get back. Someone 300 ranks higher got you? Part of the game. You can disable them by hitting them with a krionite torpedo, several emp's and several disarming bombs. Buff your ship, and you'll take them down about as easily as someone your own rank. I am very grateful for the update. I would certainly be pissed to have a shockpulse or RSL taken off. I remember shortly before the update, a player about 200 ranks higher than me attacked me in retaliation for disabling and raiding him. My ship had a lot of buffs on it, including a shockpulse. For some reason, he decided not to c missile me (higher ranks do it to me, btw). I posted on his comm saying thank you for not using one because I had a shockpulse on. By the way, if you see a shockpulse on someone, they're most likely online and would be able to retrap if you attacked them. -1

All the reasons that have been stated for why CMs are better now than they were, plus having CMs this way allows you to throw CMs to deter further attacks without going overboard (as in, the stuff it removes is mostly stuff that can be reapplied).
Just throwing a CM and not trying to retaliate is still, in my opinion, just a weak move ... doesn't matter if you're low rank, mid rank, high rank, weak, strong, PvP, NPC, whatever ... everything is cause and effect. If you cause irritation, a person will retaliate. If you cause no drama, a person will likely be more polite to you (in general). If you throw a CM at someone, you're just going to irritate them. At least now, with the last mentioned, you don't irritate them to the point of being alerted/zeroed/farmed.
If nothing else, this makes CMs MORE usable as a deterrent (even though I still think it is simply a weak move to do so).

I didn't retaliate for several reasons. First off, I didn't consider it worth all the energy and artifacts it would take to disable someone three times my rank. Second, they'd be able to easily disable me in return. Third, one of them was in the Dysonians. I've decided not to badge Dysonians anymore because they alert and gang-rape for badge hits. And there are some players that are just not worth dealing with.

Vette hitting you is no different than, let's say Sesaro hitting me. So what? I hit him back. He badges me, I badge right back. End of story until he goes on a red run again and gets me a couple days/weeks later. I don't need to sit back and stalk him for days and weeks waiting for him to buff up just so I can CM him. If you don't want Vette hitting you, stay off his news or halc up. I suspect that months of in-game animosity between RoO and Dyso have a hand to play here. You don't like them, they don't like you. Deal with it. But don't try to force everyone else to change their playstyle just because you can't take it when an historical enemy shoots you down. Making Shocks and XP buffs immune to CMs was a good thing because too many people acted like dicks and made the game un-fun for a lot of people.

From my experience, even prior to the CM change, and with the dysonians, the only time a CM was used was when there was beef going on. I had badged several #$*# who didn't CM me because of it and it was the same when I came across a dysonian with those buffs. There was a mutual understanding. However, there were also players that whenever we crossed paths and either was buffed a CM would get launched. Krauzen would debuff me all the time as I would him. I think it was fairly balanced as it was. But that is just my experience
