i think that it would be a good idea to put an option to say the word 'badge' in a player's comm who you have just hacked/disabled/raided so that it doesn't cost you 5 energy each time you need to say it, to stop people retaliating for not saying it, because if you go PvP farming then it can really build up

No. People should know what a badge hit is by the time they reach a rank of... oh... 50. I get badged MAYBE once a week, and it annoys the hell out of me seeing "Badge" on my comm. There is no way I would want "Badge" "Badge" "Badge" "Badge" "Badge" "Badge" "Badge" "Badge" "Badge" showing up in my comm. From the attacker's PoV, this is basically having your cake and eating it too. If you want to mark your badge hits so you don't hit them again (unreliable system thanks to the Delete button on a ship comm BTW) then spend the 5 energy and leave something more interesting than "Badge" for pete's sake. If you don't want to use the energy, don't. If you double whack them, then spend 5 and apologize. I seriously don't get this preoccupation so many people have with making a "badge" comm. If I badge you and you alert me, guess what... I get more badges. For that I might spend 5 and leave you a "Thank You" comm.

I guess many players consider it polite to post badge on someone's comm. I do that myself. I used to prefer players posting on my comm for it. But I mostly get badged by players 200 ranks higher, and most don't post on my comm. I've gotten used to it. I know what a badge hit is, and I'm not bothered whether they post or not.

it would be cool to have a mod that leaves a preselected message after disabling someone

victor's taunt : 0 space , leaves one of the following messages on the ships' comms' that you disable :
Just Badgin' !
Badges ! Sorry For The Inconvenience !
Ar ! I Have Plundered A Shiny Badge From Thee !
You Cannot Withstand My Might !
One Shall Stand . One Shall Fall .
Nothing Personal !
Have At Thee !
Surrender !
Cheers !
Come Join My Legion !

can be turned on/off in settings , costs 1 energy for each message , perhaps a new mission tier reward ?

How about saying triple badge or double badge if you hack, raid, disable, or all of the above

How about no.
As Darth Flagitious said, it's REALLY obvious nowadays that it's a badge hit.
The only exceptions are wars or payback, and those should be obvious too.

most ppl who played long enough know what a badge is
if they hit you back or take any form of action against you, it's not because they don't know.... it's because they are being a you-know-what

If most people indeed do know by now what a badge hit is, then I may stop posting that on people's comms. Save myself energy.
