I don't know about anyone else in this game but the cloaking vs. scan determining if you get picked up on the BT is to messed up.
Really someone can have a good 1.5k cloaking and suddenly get picked up on the BT by someone that barely even has 200 scan.
I'm not sure if its bad luck or what but this clearly shouldn't be possible when your cloaks so much higher then the other players scan there's no amount of random luck that should be able to get around that.
Thoughts?

How do you know the person had 200 scan and how do you know they get to your ship tab from the BT?

On a related thought, my observation of max scan vs. max cloak from before was that you cannot fully remove yourself from BTab ever via cloak, although it might be possible as zolazin only.

I know he had around that much scan because he tryed to hack me and set off my firewall i looked at everything he had on his ship pulled up the wiki and put the math together.
And.....i am a zolazin....

It's easy to equip scanners, find target(s), disable, unequip scanners ... especially if he or she doesn't have enough decks for everything.

Not in a space of 30 or so seconds it isnt i have a fast enough connection i can get a alert within seconds and when the timer is still saying under a min. i find it really unlikely you would have the time to remove all your scaners that fast after a failed hack besides he still had scanners on

Since when do failed hacks set off firewalls?

Failing a hack (blocked, counterhacked) doesn't set off a firewall. "The enemy's databases were empty blah blah blah but you get a blue badge" does.

How do you know he failed a hack against you? Failed hacks, as has been stated, do not set off firewalls or alert the player ... it's the same as failed raids. If you mean he hacked and you had no research to steal, that's different.

As for the rest, I have no idea, but I'd imagine in terms of hacking there is a small chance to succeed as long as you have some amount of cloak and scan at all.

Here's the two odd things:

1. You claim to know he found you on the battle tab when he had 200 scan and you had 1500 cloak
2. You claim he failed a hack on you

Both of those things are impossible to know unless he stated he had 200 scan and found you only by way of the battle tab. The second would not alert you.

I'm guessing he found you by some other method.

I'm pretty sure that I have found people with cloak in my BT when I had no scan equipped.

wait...I thought I asked someone about this before but maybe I should get this clarified by a mod/Dan. If someone equips scanners, opens BT in a new tab, finds a target, unequips scanners, equips pvp gear, and disables the target....is this against the game rules?

against the spirit of the game most likely, to open up new windows of a single instance to mark targets could be considered cheating, however if there is a way to check to see if a player has multiple instances running, and block / report / whatever those extra instances would be a massive headache - just guessing.

I'm not a mod or Dan, but it is easily done by finding someone, opening them up, and then changing your build on another browser tab. You're not circumnavigating any game mechanic so I don't see how it could be a violation.

well, a part of the question is if Dan meant for the cloak to be an effective limitation. If yes, then circumventing Dan's wishes for the system, however easily accomplished, may be considered cheating- at least by some. The next part is if Dan is part of that "some."

I meant just unequip one weapon, equip one better scanner, and disable like that :S

I wasn't mentioning using multiple browsers or doing anything other than altering your build and fighting like that

I carry 76 scan and regularly pick up cloaked enemies, far beyond 76 cloaking...

And that's why i say to fix cloaking.
I would say make it more static like the attack and defense and take the freakishly random nature out of the way.
As i said before there's a point when somethings cloak is so overwhelmingly high that you shouldn't be able to pick them up very much like how the NPC's who use cloak cant be picked up without enough scan.
Do the same with cloaking and it should be fixed, the randomization factors of this game are to messed up and let impossible things happen.

pc's or npc's?

if npc's can you name specifically which ones you've found?
(if they are spawned by an active or completed mission like the zolazin shrouds, it doesn't count)
