Now before people go jumping on me about how "oh well we already have artifacts that make planets invulnerable..." just give this a read.
Yes there are artifacts that give planets invulnerability, you can get a total of 5 in the game, 1 hyper terraform, 1 dyson, and 3 rift. However these artifacts are hard to come by as you must do 1 of 2 things.
1. you have to buy the artis from the market - I have nothing against this as the devs do need to make a living. 2. NPC hunt a bunch to find T.O. Carriers, and dark scrap thingies ( cant remember there names ) - again no problem here, as this is tons of fun.
My suggestion is that there be a mission or something that you can do that is a 1 time completion, to where you get an artifact that gives a planet invulnerability ( without the raise in resource, size, and overall awesomeness ). That way you can have your super amazing great planet - or vault planet - and not have to worry about it being taken from you.
I know invading is part of the game, and i like taking / hate losing a planet as much as the next guy, but I feel that this is something that could benefit everyone. And since I am suggesting that it only be 1, and that it not give any other benefit to the planet I feel that it is not drastically game breaking.

there are planet vortex deflectors and exo-rift repulser traps that give "immunity" (from abilities and artifacts) to planets without making the planet into an invincible planet
