was thinking of a ship class or type whatever you want to call it. here's my idea there is 5 or so ship classes you get to choose, each one has a bonus to it, but also a negative to it to level it out. putting three of my ideas on will think of some more later
Battle Ship class(top tier) a massive all powerful ship with massive fire power and defense set on battles effect +20%on attack and defense (really helpful but a negative to it.)but since with it's massive energy discharges it's easier to scan and takes lots of money to keep it's systems running. -30% cloak and +20% on upkeep. Battle Ship (low tier) a ship similar to the top tier battle ship but for lower ranked captains effect + 10% attack and defense, - 15% cloak and +10% upkeep, can upgrade to top tier(optional when gained enough exp on battleships.
shade class(top tier) a highly cloaked ship that top spies often use(top tier)
+ 25% cloak and defense(since you can't get good weapon lock on it)but must but a energy muffler on cannons - 20 %on attack shade class(low tier) a ship for new spies, half the effects as top tier as like the battle ship
all purpose ships, a simple ship not focused on any aspect. no effect(open to suggestion maybe just plus +5% to everything besides upkeep)
was thinking a few other classes just can't think of effects and what their names would be. open to suggestions. also when you switch race you get a chance to change you ship class. modification done(first)

I'm fine with customizing and specialization, but um... I have to pay an extra 30% upkeep to have a 10% higher damage cap? Won't see many experienced players jumping on that one. We want to reduce our upkeep. The 20% defense bonus would not be sufficient to adequately counter the increased damage cap, so you're looking at a 20% attack boost in exchange for a more expensive, more visible, more easily damaged ship. Sorry no thanks.

good point on damage cap over looked that, thanks for that point maybe should lower the cloak nagative, just don't want it overpower, but guess it was under powered by too big of a negative.going to modify it some.

The figures need work, but this is a great idea.
A fighter jet (+ attack and defence, -energy and scanning perhaps) would be a nice idea.
