 negative attack and defence

still fighting the war, but finding it to be ludicrous that after hitting someone with 7 EMPS and a couple Dis. bombs, and the affecterd person has ONLY negative numbers.. -167 att, -40 defence, that I'M the one still taking more damage, WTF??? there needs to be a point where your SSB BS needs to be stopped and nerfed. this ISN'T saving the game, its ruining it. if you have NO attack, then you do ZERO DAMAGE PERIOD. if you have ZERO defence, YOU TAKE MORE DAMAGE. I have over 3 X the attack of player X, and about 1500X literally the defence and I'm still losing the battles....
Anyone who wants to weigh in on this, by all means, lets hear some feedback.

They don't have negative attack and defense, those numbers don't account for crew, only modules and buffs/debuffs.

EDIT: Also, did you put the "(PvP)" thing? The admins do that once they've reviewed a thread, users shouldn't.

The numbers that pop up when you click attack only take modules and buffs into account. To get an accurate number for a ships attack and defense, you need to use Spy Probes. Small ship builds are very easy to get "negative" stats on the attack click because they are all crew.

Example:
Total ship attack including crew = 1000
Tactical Officers = 400
KVT Effect = -90%
Total REAL attack = 100
Click number = -300

Follow?


@Ferrus... He used () not Maude's {} though I agree, he shouldn't even do that much as it could cause confusion.

with the KVT in place, Dan needs to change it to subtract 10% of the tactical officers from the debuffed value, since 90% of the tactical officers are already not being counted because of the debuff

my mistake ferrus, I thought it was something new that posters were doing my mistake.
And even with the crew taken in to account... if there aren't any weapons working (based on the negative attack number FROM modules) then there shouldn't be any damage being dished out... and yes, I know theres the option for the tactical bypass.... ill have to give that a shot and see how it works.. since there are only 5 weapons on the whole ship.

once you apply enough KVTs to someone so that their real attack is below 0.5, then you will no longer take damage from them.... but strangely they are still able to trip traps

Actually, the last time I SP-W'd someone suffering with a KVT, it still showed his normal attack. Don't know if it's been fixed or not. (See my post in I&S concerning this, too lazy to link)

lone lycan, you've changed your pic, that'll be a new one to get adjusted too. and I disagree that anyone should be able to continue to attack (or at least be able to set off KVT's) if they have X amount on them... like posted in another thread, I seen ejjakai with about 10-15 on her... she was soaking them up for her legion...

10-15? Ha! When I was guarding Exotica, the player who can not be named had almost 150 on him. I had 3 people tapping me with 0 attack just to eat my KVTs.

My argument comes from the point of, WTF are they using to attack with... are they ramming ships? I want you to look at it logically, no matter how hard that is for you to do.

Look at it this way, im happily attacking you with my staff, YOU have a sword, you use your sword and cut off part of my staff... my attacking ability goes down.. I attack someone else with a sword, they do the same, now I have NO staff, but I can still attack, Ive got arms... I attack 4 more people (2 legs/2 arms) and now im just a torso... unless im ramming/biting someone, IM NOT ABLE TO ATTACK, YOU HAVE TO COME TO ME. BUT IN SPACE WITH LASER WEAPONS, YOU DON'T NEED TO TOUCH ME, SO RAMMING IS MY ONLY OPTION, NOT YOURS.

Your argument comes from the facet of 'team play', which I have no problem with, but I would still love it to be based in REALITY...

Sorry, it's just that the realism ship has already sailed on this matter, just the fact that adding more people to your ship increases your damage has taken out that line of reasoning. We see what you mean, but realism usually doesn't trump gameplay in a game like this.

I do think that once you actually have zero attack you shouldn't be able to attack anymore, though.

Simple. The weapons become infused with a virus. They are still able to fire, but not able to inflict damage, however, the force of the weapons is enough to trip the trap.

Ill give you that the virus only affects power output from the weapons, i hadn't thought of it that way.
So I'll rephrase.
KVT's should only be set off if your doing X amount of damage, lets say 150 for example.
that way, one person can't just go soaking them up...

and yes i've seen monty python :P

i know... i really don't care for this new one... wanted to try this dark smuggler avatar for a few days to see if it'll grow on me or not...
