A searchable planet list that allows you to see every single planet in the game and whether it is owned or not (but not who owns it or any of the planet artifacts).

Something like this

i'm sure many of the players would like to see what unoccupied planets are still out there waiting to be found and what are the best planets currently owned. :D

-1 the game loads everything when you login to GL, how long is it gonna take to load those 2million planets, let alone how much server load is gonna be caused by 10k people all loading those planets and then those planets updating every few seconds as planets are colonized/invaded/abandoned/created.

Lol there are over 2.2mil planets out there u know how much code it would take for that to happen not to mention how many pages one would flick via b4 getting to the end. Although it sounds nice a -1 from me.

This would drastically increase pregame loading times. -1 from me too

how about showing only unoccupied planet thens (maybe minimum mega rich) and you could filter them to what type you wanted to see(size and resource type), as if it was only unoccupied planet then the list would go down fairly quickly.

and update once per 24 hours to decrease server load

The loading time would still be a problem.

Its still going to affect loading times. I get a pause factor of 2-4 seconds each time and thats just for 570 planets. That pause time already is an issue i don't like. What good is it adding planets that you don't own, can't occupy, other than something to just stare at wishing you could find that planet.

Seems more like a torture scheme than anything else.

If players knew what kind of planets were out there still it may encourage more spending on the game by players hoping to scan something so good.

At the moment there is nothing to even say what kind of planets are yet to still be found. for all we know Dan may have added in a 99x mega rich planet and we wouldn't know

Again why would we care if there was a 99x MR unocc world out there. I'm not gonna spend more money in the hopes of scanning good worlds, other than the 20GP it costs to change to inergon explorer when i do my scan runs. If i knew there were 3000 unocc dysons out there it wouldn't encourage me to buy extra GP's.

Anyone who would spend money on this game purely for the purposes of scanning for planets is insane or has alot of cash to throw around that they can afford to do that.

And i would rather it be a surprise if there where one of them and i'd found it (by mythical luck). :)

the page loading problem can be eliminated by handling it the way Dan handles the list of legions.... load 10 at a time, with a button that queries the server for the previous 10 or next 10

Not the greatest idea, it takes away the fun of scanning planets and sharing them with your legion to help out players and practically destroys a new players ability to save an unoccupied world he's scanned... for later which a lot of people do.

And there is alot more planets than legions, the loading time will still be a problem even with the 10 per page.

the loading time wouldn't be a problem....

the problem would be that with 2.2m planets, you can't be expected to flip through all of the pages in your lifetime.... even if the game only downloaded 10 planets at a time... even if dan used XML for quicker data loading than what he's doing right now which is reloading more than half the screen...

besides... a compilation of unscanned planets is just.............. wrong...
if nobody has a planet in their scans yet then what good is it to tease you with the pics?

a better idea would probably be if Dan just gave us a chart showing the percentages of unscanned planets that are of each planet type, and updates it every month or two or three

This, but weekly or daily, gets my vote. A nice scatterplot or somesuch.

ooh, how about a 5D scatter.... x = mining level, y = artifact level, z = research level... size of dot = average planet size for that mining/arti/research level... and color of dot = relative number of planets matching that mining, arti, and research level

do one like that for each planet type....

What I think would be nice is if Dan on the scan page would
# of total planets
# of unoccupied planets
ratio of above
# of unoccupied natural dyson
infinitely tiny odds of scanning one.

that would make me happy and wouldn't take up any load time. One could also kinda keep track of natural dyson's being created.
