 Base combat.

Just a little idea to stew over and i honestly think it would add a new and much more fun element to the base battles.

1st Base Damage done by the attacking players should be visible by the defending legion. The attacking players in the tab, once they reach 5% damage, the defending players should be able to engage them in combat by clicking there link on the damage tab.

2nd there should be a new addition added/ built onto the base.... a hanger bay that will allow ships to dock at the station/in the sector like they do on a planet. this hanger would have the ships guarding the station in it..... the ships would not add to the total base but you can only engage in combat with the attacking players if your ship is at the station. thus allowing the attacking players to also target the defending ships.

The hangers would only be able to be used if the base is over 50% hull. once the base is under 50% the hanger is to damaged to mount an assault, making the defending player unable to target players in base combat until the base is above 50% once more.

last once you are disabled from the hanger you have to wait 10 min before you may reenter the battle. thus giving the attacking team the chance to battle the base.

1st:

I'll give a +1 to being able to see the damagers.

However i'm gonna give a -1 to the idea that you can engage them via combat through that same method. Until such time as de-buffs are given limited functionality, i.e. only 3 debuffs can be used on any one person, or one CM per hour and such, it would be a mistake to allow it, as otherwise you can just sit there and debuff the people doing the most damage and prevent bases from being disabled without actually doing anything besides spamming artifacts.

2nd: It all sounds good until i read this last part

If you are saying that the defending ships in the space hanger have to be disabled before an attack on the base can continue, then thats another -1 i'm afraid.

Although the 10 minute waiting period is a good amount of time between being able to re-enter the hanger, any player with enough k-traps/restorers/nano's could easily hold off 5-10 attackers for quite a while(whilst at the same time incapacitating numerous players for 30 minutes who run out of null fuses to get rid of k-infections).

Easily allowing either more players to get in the hanger or buy enough time for an already disabled player to get back on.

no the ships only have to be in the hanger for the sole purpose that if the attacking players want to target them they have a list of who is in the battle. the base is still attacked as it is.

With the exception once they do enough damage to the base they can be engaged by players at the station. and likewise once in the station you can be attacked by the attacking players if they so choose.

well now .. I didn't see this post originally but it looks like we approached a change in generally the same way .. I do like this approach alot

I think my post has a slightly different spin.. take regular pvp artis (krios, omi, dbombs,emps nulls) completely out of the base battle make the artis acquired from badges from participating in base battles the only that works for buffing/debuffing during base combat but creating a new "stat" Base attack which is only used for calculations during base combat
so for example
before base combat starts you hav 10k attack and are pvp'ing th regular way you trip a krio go down to 1k attack
your legion initiates base combat you attack base and you base attack is still 10k .. unaffected by the krio. however the defending players launch attacks at you for attacking you and debuff you using the badge artis and your base attack goes down to 7k..
YOu tire of base combat you come out and go back to regular pvp .. you are still affected by krio but you attack is not affected by debuffs from base combat.
