I think planets which are cloaked should only be able to be found by ships with a corresponding equal or near-equal level of scan technology.
This would help cut down on multi-abuse, and add more value to having a cloaked planet in the first place.
Simple fix, but adds much more value to scanned plans, while not affecting end-game players, or those of equal rank and tech.

and how would that differ from the current way of doing things?
are you suggesting with 10k scan that i should not be allowed to find a planet with only 2k cloak?
keep in mind 99% of unoccupied planets technically have 0 cloak (yes, some have cloak)

If you have 10k scan, you have the best scan tech available. So you can see everything.

This is for player-owned planets only. ie. A planet has an anti-tachyon satellite. You must have the equivilant scan tech on your ship to be able to find that planet. You still need to have more scan than the available cloak though.

so....if you had a SINGLE one of those, you would make it so only players who have researched up to that could find it? -1. There is a reason why you are allowed to place multiple scanners on your ship. And a reason why cloak modules take space and can have multiple of them on the planets. This would be a severe handicap to lower rank/lower rp players.

so how would it work if i had 6 inverse flux satellites? since i technically have the top tier of cloak, but more sattelites than you can equip scanners, would that make the planet invisible?

Now, you have the scan tech that COUNTERS the cloak tech. Then it goes back to the current system where it's scan vs. cloak

so with my max cloak setup,.... without at least 1 inverse flux satellite on the planet, it could still be seen?
