Just had an idea come to mind while I was at work last night. I thought up of something like the following, for said period of time if you chose to accept the event, when you enter into the arena everyone's ship becomes level 20 with a fixed amount of HP and everyone starts with the same basic attack and defense. For every 5 kills in a row you gain 10 attack points, for every 5 deaths in a row you gain 10 defense points. If you alternate kills and deaths you remain at the starting given def attack. To keep people from stacking defense and attack, when you gain 10 attack you lose 10 defense, when you gain 10 defense you lose 10 attack. This will keep it balanced so that people are not stacking both and as they get higher kill streaks it gets harder to defend your streak. On the flip side, if you keep dying it gets harder to kill you by adding defense, but as you start to gain kills you will start to balance out again. There could be a seperate kill board or maybe a total points board based on kills and kill streaks and the top player/players over said period of time will be awarded small amount of GP or a credits, Rank points, CTP or other in game currency. I think this would be a fun addition to the game where everyone can pvp eachother from a neutral point.

I like the idea, but if everyone is rank 20 and has the same attack and defense ... it will literally be a random game and there won't be any benefit in the end.

I think having everyone's ship stay like they have it, but have people in 'brackets' would be good and you could have winners for each bracket. I was hoping my idea would get more traction, but it could still be used as a basis and would be a nice PvP option to show who truly has a strong ship.

Thats why as you gain kills and deaths your defense will be modified. The only thing that will be fixed is your hull. Yes RNG will play a factor, but unless RNG on crits is taken out so it is just straight dmg based on differential of attack vs defense (which I doubt will ever be implemented on the game). I see your point that it would come down to random hits, but I also think with the modification to your attack and defense it will help to balance things out.

Player A vs Player B (both have 100 attack and 100 defense)

A vs B - A wins
A now has 110a/90b, B now has 90a/110b

A vs B - Round 2, scenario 1 - A wins
A now has 120a/80d, B now has 80a/120d
Repeat, A gets lucky every single time, wins out of sheer luck

A vs B - Round 2, scenario 2 - B wins
A now has 100a/100d, B now has 100a/100d
Repeat, A and B alternate between wins and losses, nobody wins, stalemate


I see no possible situation in which any single player can win out of skill or integrity of ship build.

Not saying this is a bad idea, it's a good idea. I just don't see why the player's should have their ships made identical and using an attack/defense system that is completely random.

You're right that it will balance itself out in the end, but wouldn't the whole idea be to determine a victor by virtue of their skills or ship build? What we have in place now (unlimited debuffs, disables not meaning anything, etc) is very similar to this ... mostly luck.

Ya this is true, I was just thinking because I have been told countless times while BT hunting "IF I WAS YOUR LEVEL WITH YOUR STATS...." So I figured HERE YOU GO! Plus I have been seeing a huge want for arenas. So I figured if you set a fixed amount to the ship builds and stats it would be more "equal" so someone cannot go crying on your comm... "stop hitting me you are 200 levels higher and have 5000 more attack and defense than me go pick on someone your own size!". I guess the RNG though would basically decide who wins though. If you set it so there is no RNG on hits and it is a flat amount based on attack vs defense, then really in theory both ships should be disabled at the same time (being that I would want to see this where each fight you cannot use any artifacts or abilities to repair till after the engagement).

I still think an arena or duel system would be good. However, I think for it to work, the following must happen:

1. Brackets - There must be a close range of levels (say 100 levels, so there would be 0-100, 101-200, 201-300, 301-400, 401-500, 501-600, 601-700, 801-900, 901-1000, 1001-1100, etc etc)
2. No/Limited buffs/debuffs, no way to heal mid-battle - Anyone can debuff a person, buff themselves, and call it a day ... I think having no buffs/debuffs would be best
3. Some way to eliminate a person just clicking fast - The battles shouldn't be immediately controlled by the players. Once the battle starts, the system should generate each attack/counter


Anyone can say "Oh yea? Well, if I had better stats than you, I would win!" ... but that's pointless. The point should be for stronger players to show their might. There should still be a little bit of random in it, as in the attacks should be like they are now (with some RNG input, but not the determining factor), but it shouldn't make it a simple dice roll to see who wins.

Was just a suggestion, could be different brackets for higher ranks. Or combine some brackets for higher ranks or something.

Edit: For Top 50 Ranks in galaxy, that is their bracket. Top 50 = Always in "Top 50 Bracket" that pits them all together. That way, it will never be an issue for them. And most in the top 50 I'm guessing can hold their own against the top 5 and such.
